The Australian Grand Prix is a motor race held annually in Australia under contract with Formula One until 2023. It is the oldest surviving motor racing event held in Australia and represents the first race of the F1 World Championship season. However, that’s since when the event moved to Melbourne, as previously in Adelaide, it was the final round of the season. Feel free to check out our Formula One 2018 season preview, betting tips and predictions here.
The Melbourne Grand Prix Circuit is actually a street circuit around Albert Park Lake and it has a FIA Grade 1 licence. The road sections that are used in the circuit were rebuilt prior to the inaugural event in 1996, which means that this Melbourne circuit has a smooth surface than most of the other circuits that are held on public roads. The drivers are more than happy with this circuit as the course is considered to be quite fast and the placement of corners allows the drivers to achieve competitive times.
As the Australian Grand Prix is the first tournament of the 2018 Formula One season, the F1 teams will launch their cars before the event in the following order:
15 February: Williams
20 February: Sauber and Renault
22 February: Mercedes and Ferrari
23 February: McLaren
26 February: Toro Rosso
Furthermore, there will be some pre-season testing:
26 February - 1 March: Circuit de Catalunya, Barcelona
6-9 March: Circuit de Catalunya, Barcelona

2018 Australian Grand Prix betting predictions and tips
The bookmakers haven’t released the odds for this event yet, but we will definitely update the post when the odds will be available. We did the same thing for several Grand Prix events last year and we will be looking to cover all the Grand Prix tournaments this year. Furthermore, there will be loads of free bets available for this huge event, especially that the British driver, Lewis Hamilton, will begin his title defence here in Melbourne. However, we expect Hamilton to be the bookies’ favourite here despite the fact that Vettel won the race last year.
