All of our season football Predictions
Here we have all the very best football predictions for the upcoming 2016/17 season. We will be betting on to win outright markets in all of the major football leagues. The European football season for 2016/17 is closer than ever and the biggest teams in the world have all made huge transfers and manager appointments. The competition in every league looks set to be tighter than ever, meaning there should be some fantastic value knocking about. Our analysts have been hard at work, taking into account new managers, new transfer signings and looking at crucial stats from seasons gone by. Find our 'to win outright' predictions from the following competitions: English Premier League, English Championship, FA Cup, Spanish La Liga, German Bundesliga, Italy Serie A, France Ligue 1 and the UEFA Champions League.
To win the Premier League 2016/17
The Premier League is the richest league in the world, with the highest TV viewing figures of any domestic football league. Famed for its exciting brand of football and home to many of the planets top footballing talents, this season could be the best yet. Last year saw Leicester City win the Premier League priced at 5000/1, the biggest payout ever offered by a bookmaker. Here is our prediction for the 2016/17 Premier League winner.
This looks set to be another highly competitive season and it is fair to say there will be drama. Pep Guardiola will get his first taste of Premier League football with Manchester City, as will Antonio Conte with Chelsea. Jose Mourinho has taken the helm at Manchester United and let's not forget Leicester City are out to defend their trophy. Meanwhile, Arsene Wenger lurks quietly in the background hoping his Arsenal side can claim their first Premier League title in over 10 years. And let's not rule out the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool who have also come excruciatingly close in recent season.
At present, I think that both Manchester clubs are in with the strongest chances of lifting the Premier League trophy. Both teams have done some fantastic early business in the transfer window and have two of the best managers in the game. For me I think the best value is with Manchester United and Jose Mourinho has a fantastic record of winning leagues in his first season. Having already made 3 huge signings in Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Eric Bailly it is clear Jose is out to make a statement. It looks as though a world record transfer will be agreed for Paul Pogba in the coming weeks, which will make them an incredible force in this league next season.
Alternatively you can get 14/1 for Manchester United to win the Premier League
To win the Championship 2016/17
The Championship is widely regarded as the most unpredictable league in the world. Promotion from this league gains clubs promotion to the Premier League, and the prize for doing so is actually worth more than winning the Champions League.
Newcastle United are understandably the standout favourites to win the league, having kept hold of a majority of players. They have also made a number of acquisitions who are proven at this level. For me the price is still very short at 7/4, but the bookmakers are obviously very wary of offering higher odds for such a strong team. Newcastle famously suffered relegation from the Premier League in the 2008/09 season. The next season saw them run away with the Championship, with no side looking like troubling their lead. I am of the opinion that they will gain promotion to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
Another bet I really like the look of in the Championship is Sheffield Wednesday to be promoted. Wednesday made the playoff finals last season, narrowly missing out on promotion to Hull, who beat them 1-0. Steven Fletcher has recently joined the Owls adding to an already talented and experienced forward line of Fernando Forestieri and Gary Hooper. Wednesday are well equipped in all areas of the field and I expect them to trouble the top of the table this season.
To win La Liga 2016/17
Here we have our La Liga 2016/16 winners prediction. Our Spanish analyst has looked extensively into all 20 teams and this is who he believes has the greatest chance of winning the league.
Last season Barcelona's front three were the best in the world, and have put themselves in that bracket of the best forward line ever. Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar amassed 90 goals between them in La Liga last season.
Alternatively, you can get Barcelona to win the La Liga at 6/1 with Betfair.
To win the German Bundesliga 2016/17
Here we have our Bundesliga 2016/16 winners prediction. Our Bundesliga analyst has looked extensively into all 20 teams and this is who he believes has the greatest chance of winning the league.
We are predicting that Bayern Munich will win the Bundesliga again this season however, we don't feel there is any value in this price. You may be of a different opinion. Dortmund should be their nearest competition once more and are priced at 7/1.
To win Italy Serie A 2016/17
Here we have our to win outright prediction for the 2016/17 season. 20 teams compete in Italy's top domestic division with Juventus having topped the league for the last 5 seasons.
Unsurprisingly we are backing Juventus to win the league again this season. After a shaky start last season Juventus were unplayable in their final 30 games of Serie A. By far the dominant force in this league, teams simply can not cope with Juventus when they are playing to the best of their ability.
To win France Ligue 1 2016/17
The France Ligue 1 has been dominated by Paris Saint Germain in recent times, having won France's highest tier of football for the last 4 seasons. With Zlatan Ibrahimovic having left PSG could the rest of the league now compete with the capital side?
Priced at 1/12 to win the competition there is very little value in backing PSG. At that price we are not advising people to place bets on this market.
To win the Champions League 2016/17
The Champions League is widely regarded as the biggest prize in domestic football.
Having looked at the odds and recent success in the competition I believe that the biggest value is in last season's runners-up Atletico Madrid. Atletico have reached the final in two of the last three seasons and clearly love the format of this competition. On their way to the final last season they knocked out favourites Barcelona and were desperately unlucky to lose to Real Madrid on penalties in the final. Atletico Madrid can arguably claim to have the best defence in club football, all the stats would generally suggest that this is the case.
To win the FA Cup 2016/17
The FA Cup is one of the most exciting competitions in world football. The biggest domestic cup football saw over 763 clubs compete in the competition last season. The competition was won by Manchester United last season, who beat Crystal Palace 2-1 in a dramatic final at Wembley. Arsenal and Manchester United share the record for the most FA Cup winners trophies, having both won the FA Cup 12 times.
As mentioned above no side has won this competition more times than the North London side. Arsenal have also won the FA Cup in two of the last three seasons. Arsene Wenger shares the record for most FA Cup trophies won by a manager (6) with George Ramsey of Aston Villa. Wenger managed to achieve this in 16 years less than Ramsey. I believe that Arsenal on their day are capable of beating any team in England and I don't expect them to competing in the later stages of the Champions League this year. I also believe that they may not be competing for the Premier League this season which could add extra impetus on them to win the FA Cup.
