How the Eagles and Patriots got here

Super Bowl 52 sees the number 1 NFC and number 1 AFC seeds both contending the final, both teams managed to skip the wild card round and rested up being number 1 seeds. The Philadelphia Eagles then played the Falcons in the divisional round at home beating the 15-10 to prove they had what it takes. In the conference finals the Eagles played the Vikings with most pundits expecting the Vikings to come out on top despite the Eagles being number 1 seeds and at home. When it came down to it the Eagles destroyed the famous Vikings defence putting 38 points on them with only 7 in reply. This result is going to give the Philadelphia Eagles a huge amount of confidence, they made a mess of what is considered to be the leagues best defence. The Patriots had a much easier Divisional round beating the Titans 35-14 with Brady picking up what could have been a costly injury, the QB stepped up though for the conference final and played with stitches in his hand to beat the Jaguars 24-20 in the conference final. Tom Brady came to the forefront in the 4th quarter with two huge drives resulting in touchdowns and the New England Patriots defence shut the Jags down completely in the 4th quarter. Very few can say these teams don't deserve to be here, they were the best two regular season teams and both showed grit and true quality to come through the play offs anc conference finals. As ever Tom Brady proved why many believe him to be the best quarter back to ever play the game, while Foles stepped and proved he can do the job for the Eagles who have 2 or 3 of the games best receivers. Super Bowl LII is going to be tough to pick with these two great teams involved.

Patriots v Eagles odds and bets

This is the New England Patriots 3rd appearance in the Super Bowl in 4 years, last year the Patriots beat the Atlanta Falcons in overtime, and in 2015 in Super Bowl XLIX they beat the Seattle Seahawks 28-24 in the final. In fact, in the last 15 years the New England Patriots have been in 8 Super Bowl Finals and won 5 of them with only 2 loses and one yet to be decided, the Pats have won 5 Super Bowls in total and hold the record for the most appearances with 10. The Philadelphia Eagles last appearance in the NFL final was in 2005 in which they lost to the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XXXIX. As expected because of all the Patriots experience they are strong favourites for the finals and start the game with a -5 handicap. On top of all the experience that the Patriots have and Tom Brady the Philadelphia Eagles have a long injury list with possible MVP contender Carson Wentz injured as well as tackle Jason Peters, linebacker Jordan Hicks and special teams ace Chris Maragos all of home are very hard to replace. All these injured players were missing for the conference final though in which they destroyed the Minnesota Vikings so it's hard to judge if the experience will come out on top. Below we have picked out some key bets and odds for the Super Bowl LII.

Super Bowl LII time, place and channel

With the increased popularity of American Football, this year its going to be almost impossible to miss the hype around the huge event this year. The Super Bowl global audience will top 1 billion this year and in the UK you have several options to watch it. Sky Sports will be showing in on Sky Sports Arean, Sky Sports Mix and Sky Sports Event. The show on Sky Sports will start around 10 pm with all the build-up and commentary from the Sky team at the game. As well as Sky Sports you can catch the huge event on terrestrial TV with the BBC showing the event this year. Lastly, if you prefer you can watch using the live NFL feed using NFL game day. Super Bowl 52 is going to be in Minnesota which is a huge surprise being it's a cold weather city and could be tough for the teams to play a game in the winter conditions, the game is coming from the US Bank stadium. Generally, the Super Bowl comes from a warm weather Stadium such as New Orleans but the NFL management surprised everyone with a secret ballot choice of Minnesota. The game should be starting around 18:30 eastern time which is 23:30 UK time, the game should take around 4 hours due to the huge half time show they have planned, the half time show will feature Justin Timberlake for the 3rd time.

New England Patriots v Philadelphia Eagles Preview

This is the matchup the Super Bowl deserves, on one hand, you have the greatest quarterback coach partnership in history with Tom Brady and Bill Belichick, on the other hand, you have a team that dominated the regular season and even when they picked up injuries the roaster filled in and you didn't even notice. When the Eagles lost starting quarterback Carson Wentz everyone thought there postseason was done, but the strong defence and Foles stepping up meant nobody noticed. Foles had the game of his life last week against the leagues toughest defence and the Eagles receivers did everything they could to help him. This game in itself is one of the toughest to call in Super Bowl history, it's almost impossible to back against Brady and the Patriots and many won't. The Eagles have proven through the season how tough they are though and the defence in itself could cause some huge issues for the Patriots.

The key battle for me in this game is the Eagles 4 man rush against Tom Brady, Tom Brady has a poor record when the pressure is really put on, the games he loses are the games in which he is sacked 3+ times and the Eagles rush defence has been doing this all season. The advantage they have is the 4 man rush then frees up an extra cover for the pass meaning Brady will have fewer options to pass and as good Amendola and Gronkowski are if they are double covered Brady will struggle to find them.

All this being said Foles is going to have to match his conference finals performance and move the ball quickly to get the better of the Pats defensive line, he will need the support of all his receivers along with RB LeGarrette Blount to get past the Patriots defensive line. The Eagles need to get ahead early and shut the Pats down, if it becomes a close game it becomes more and more of a Brady match,if it comes to a 4th quarter match up Brady will win hands down.

I am picking out the Eagles here, my heart tells me never to back against Brady and he always brings everything to a Super Bowl but my head just sees the Eagles as the better-packaged team here. The stats on 4 man rush and pressure on Brady just cannot be avoided.
