FC Cologne vs Hoffenheim Match Prediction

By Herbie

FC Cologne will be aiming to get back to winning ways in the Bundesliga when they welcome Hoffenheim at the RheinEnergieStadion on Friday night. FC Cologne were beaten 2-1 on the road at Augsburg at the weekend, with Peter Stoger’s men conceding two first-half goals, while their goal was actually an own-goal by Augsburg’s striker Philipp Max. On the contrary, Hoffenheim managed an impressive 5-3 home victory over Borussia Moenchengladbach, with Adam Szalai and Kerem Demirbay scoring a brace each, while Mark Uth established the final score. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news and match stats all in our SBAT.

Betting Predictions and Tips

Although they looked very poor recently, Koln have been a strong side at home throughout this campaign, losing just two of their 14 home league fixtures. In addition, Cologne are undefeated in their five home meetings with Hoffenheim across all competitions, scoring at least two goals in three of these. This having been said, I’m backing Cologne to snatch at least one point here.

FC Cologne Preview

FC Cologne’s poor run of form continued last weekend as they suffered a 2-1 defeat on the road at Augsburg. Their form over the past two months has seen Cologne winning just two of their last nine games in the Bundesliga. Cologne used to have one of the best defensive records in the division, but they looked very poor at the back over the past few weeks. Koln have conceded at least two goals in seven of their last nine league outings. Despite the recent struggle, Cologne still sit in a comfortable 7th position in the Bundesliga table with 40 points to their name after 29 rounds, just one point of the 6th-placed Freiburg. Koln have been a tough nut to crack on home soil throughout this Bundesliga campaign, losing just two of their 14 home league games. They were on a two-game winning streak at home prior to their 2-3 defeat at the hands of Borussia Moenchengladbach in their most recent home league fixture. Furthermore, Cologne are undefeated in their last five home meetings with Hoffenheim across all competitions, scoring at least two goals in three of these. A player to watch for Cologne is Anthony Modeste, as the Frenchman is leading the club’s goalscoring charts with 23 goals and three assists in his 29 league appearances.

Hoffenheim Preview

Hoffenheim were on a seven-game unbeaten streak in the Bundesliga prior to their 2-1 defeat at Hamburger SV a fortnight ago. However, they returned to winning ways in style last weekend, picking up an impressive 5-3 home victory over Borussia Moenchengladbach. This leaves Hoffe in third spot in the Bundesliga table with 54 points under their belts, just one point clear of the 4th-placed Borussia Dortmund. Hoffenheim looked have been very well-organized at both ends of the field throughout this Bundesliga campaign, scoring 56 goals while conceding just 31 in 29 league fixtures. Andrej Kramaric is Hoffenheim’s topscorer with 12 goals under his belt, while Sandro Wagner, Adam Szalai and Mark Uth have bagged 25 goals and four assists between them. Away from home, Hoffenheim have only lost three of their last ten away games across all competitions. However, they haven’t been at their best on the road recently, winning just once in their last six league trips. The good news is that Hoffenheim picked up an impressive 4-0 home victory over FC Cologne in the reverse fixture. Actually, that was Hoffenheim’s sole win in their last seven meetings with FC Cologne.
