Borussia Moenchengladbach vs RasenBallsport Leipzig Match Prediction
RB Leipzig will be looking to get back to winning ways in the Bundesliga when they travel to the Stadion im BORUSSIA-PARK to take on Borussia Moenchengladbach on Sunday afternoon. Borussia Moenchengladbach picked up a narrow 0-1 win at Werder Bremen last weekend thanks to a first-half goal from Thorgan Hazard. On the contrary, RB Leipzig lost 0-3 at home at the hands of Hamburger SV despite having had the better ball possession and more goalscoring opportunities than the visitors. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news and match stats all in our SBAT preview.
Borussia Moenchengladbach Preview
Coach Dieter Hecking was appointed as Borussia Moenchengladbach’s coach over the winter break, and he made an immediate impact since his arrival. M’Gladbach have won three and drawn once in their four Bundesliga outings this year, scoring seven goals and conceding just two in the process. Furthermore, Borussia Moenchengladbach managed a comfortable 0-2 victory on the road at Greuther Furth in the DFB Pokal Cup at the beginning of February. However, their five-game unbeaten streak across all competitions ended in midweek as they were beaten 0-1 at home by Fiorentina in the first leg of their Europa League round of 32 tie. Their recent home form has been a complete mixed bag with five defeats, three wins and two draws in their last ten home fixtures across all competitions. However, Borussia Moenchengladbach have won seven Bundesliga games this season, and five of those were achieved in front of their own fans. They currently sit in 10th place in the Bundesliga table with 26 points to their name after 20 rounds, just seven points off the European spots. Scoring goals has been Borussia Moenchengladbach’s main issue throughout the season, as they hold one of the worst offensive records in the division with just 22 goals scored in 20 league games. Lars Stindl, Thorgan Hazard and Raffael have been M’Gladbach’s most prolific players throughout the season, as the attacking trio bagged 16 goals and four assists between them.
RB Leipzig Preview
On the other hand, RB Leipzig are going through a difficult period at the moment as they come into this tie on the back of two consecutive defeats at the hands of Borussia Dortmund and Hamburger SV, without scoring a single goal in the process. They still sit in the second place in the Bundesliga table, but they are now already seven points off the current leaders Bayern Munich. They are in dire need to get back to winning ways in this one, as they have lost four of their last seven games in the Bundesliga. The good news is that RB Leipzig still hold one of the best defensive records in the division, conceding just 20 goals in 20 league fixtures. They also looked good going forward so far this season, having scored 36 goals in 20 rounds. Their recent away form has been terrible, as they have suffered defeats in each of their last three away games in the Bundesliga and failed to score a single goal in the process. Timo Werner has enjoyed an excellent Bundesliga campaign this season, as he is leading the club’s goalscoring charts with 11 goals in his 19 league appearances. Emil Forsberg and Marcel Sabitzer have also been in fine shape throughout this Bundesliga campaign, as the pair bagged ten goals and 12 assists between them.
Borussia Moenchengladbach Team News
Mamadou Doucoure, Marvin Schulz, Joel Mero, Ibrahima Traore, Djibril Sow, Raffael, Nico Elvedi and Jonas Hofmann are all doubts, but Moritz Nicolas is out through injury. In addition, Tobias Strobl is missing through suspension.
RB Lepzig Team News
Yussuf Poulsen and Lukas Klostermann are both missing through injury, while Marcel Sabitzer and Marvin Compper are both doubts. Furthermore, Will Orban is out through suspension.
Betting Predictions and Tips
I don’t think that RB Leipzig are able to get back to winning ways in this one, as their recent away form has been awful, while Borussia Moenchengladbach’s form in this early part of the year has been near perfect. However, I’m still expecting RB Leipzig to get on the scoresheet.
