Fulham vs Reading Match Prediction

By Dean Carr

Fulham take on Reading at Craven Cottage on 03/12/16 as the away side look to maintain their excellent run of form in the Championship. Our SBAT preview will bring you a form guide, team news and a betting preview.

Fulham Preview

Fulham came within ten minutes of picking up a fantastic result away to Brighton last time out, only to be denied as the Seagulls ran out 2-1 winners at the AMEX Stadium. Kevin McDonald gave the hosts a shock lead in the first half, with Brighton struggling to get going in the early stages. However, Chris Hughton’s side improved in the second half and turned the game around in their favour thanks to goals from Sam Baldock and Glenn Murray, denying the away side from coming away with anything from their travels. After just one point from their last two games - albeit against quality sides in Brighton and Sheffield Wednesday - Slavisa Jokanovic’s men now sit 10th in the league table, four points off a playoff place with Huddersfield Town occupying 6th. After two seasons of underachieving in this league, Fulham finally look as if they have a squad capable of producing a challenge for promotion. Both Tom Cairney and Sone Aluko have been excellent creative hubs in midfield, while David Button has impressed in goal. Despite their form this season, Fulham have been patchy at Craven Cottage of late, winning only once in their previous eight at home and just twice all season in front of their own supporters, surprisingly having more success on the road where they have lost just twice.

Reading Preview

Reading continued their surprise surge up the Championship table last weekend, extending their winning streak to five in a row after beating Bristol City 2-1 at the Madejski Stadium. Jaap Stam’s team are full of confidence at this moment in time, which was highlighted by the electric start they made to the game. Garath McCleary opened the scoring, before Roy Beerens made it 2-0 inside the first twenty minutes. Although Gary O’Neil pulled one back for the away side late on, Reading’s defence held firm, with O’Neil’s strike denying them the opportunity to make it five clean sheets alongside their five successive wins. Having a settled back four has been key to their recent success, with Chris Gunter, Paul McShane, Liam Moore and Tyler Blackett all combining to make a solid defence. Stam also appears to be getting the best out of winger McCleary, who has netted seven times in the league already this season - already making it his highest goalscoring return for the Royals in five seasons with the club. With four goals in four games, he’s a man bang in form at this moment in time. Reading have gone under the radar for much of this season and are now just four points behind second-placed Brighton and have established a healthy six-point gap between themselves and seventh-placed Sheffield Wednesday outside of the playoffs.

Fulham Team News

Right-back Denis Odoi after his fifth yellow card of the season away to Brighton, with Ryan Fredericks set to deputise in defence. There are no reported injury concerns in the Fulham squad, leaving Slavisa Jokanovic with a full squad to select from, barring Odoi.

Reading Team News

Defender Liam Moore is suspended meaning Jake Cooper should come into the defence. John Swift and Deniss Rakels are both ruled out through respective ankle injuries, while Stephen Quinn (knee) is a doubt.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Reading have been in excellent form as of late, and with Fulham struggling for wins at home, I see great value in Reading double chance in this one.

Reading double chance - 5/6

Both teams to score YES - 8/11
