By Dean Carr

Burnley welcome West Ham United to Turf Moor on 21/05/17 as two mid-table sides look to end their seasons on a positive note. Burnley fell to a 2-1 defeat last weekend at the hands of Bournemouth to continue their poor away form for the season. West Ham meanwhile were thrashed 4-0 by Liverpool as they ended a disappointing home campaign with a result which reflects the mood at the club. For Burnley, this should be somewhat of a celebration for what has been an excellent Premier League season. West Ham meanwhile will welcome the end of the campaign and I’m expecting Burnley to close the year in style. Home win.

Burnley Preview

Sean Dyche may not care too much about it this season but will surely be looking to find a cure for his side’s poor away form next term as they again lost on the road last weekend, losing 2-1 at Bournemouth last time out. It was a case of old boys coming back to haunt their former sides last time out, first as Junior Stanislas opened the scoring after twenty-five minutes. The winger enjoyed three years at Turf Moor and it was an ex-Bournemouth man who pulled Burnley seven minutes from time, as Sam Vokes glanced home Johann Berg Gudmundsson’s cross inside the far post, but it wasn’t quite enough to earn them a result. Josh King netted just two minutes later to seal the victory for Bournemouth and ensured that Burnley ended the season with just one Premier League away victory to their name. The timing of that win couldn’t have been any more perfect, as they beat Crystal Palace 2-0 at Selhurst Park to end a run of three games without a win and virtually seal their place in the Premier League for the upcoming season. Despite the fantastic achievement of avoiding relegation, Burnley have won just two of their last seventeen games since February and will be wary of carrying that type of form into next season.

Burnley Team News

Defenders Michael Keane (calf) and Ben Mee (shin) remain doubtful for Burnley so James Tarkowski and Kevin Long should continue. Dean Marney (cruciate ligament) is ruled out while Joey Barton is suspended.

West Ham United Preview

West Ham supporters will have been left wondering how their team could put on two such contrasting displays in such a short space of time. They were completely torn apart by Liverpool at the London Stadium last time out, falling behind when Philippe Coutinho played in Daniel Sturridge, who confidently rounded Adrian and dispatched the chance. Coutinho then got on the scoresheet himself with two strikes inside four minutes, both of which were scored with real ease and quality. Fortune aided Divock Origi as the Belgian converted from close range and the discontent of the Hammers fans was highlighted by the vast number of supporters who left the stadium before the post-match lap of honour. The Hammers had seven wins to show for their first season in the London Stadium, that compared to nine victories the year before and only three defeats at Upton Park. Coming into this contest, Slaven Bilic’s side are without a win in their last six away matches, taking three points from a possible eighteen during that time but could still finish in the top half, albeit with a six-goal swing needed in their favour. The club will now be looking to rebuild heading into next season after what has ultimately proved to be an underwhelming campaign.

West Ham United Team News

Cheikhou Kouyate (wrist), Pedro Obiang (ankle), Mark Noble (abdominal), Gokhan Tore (knee) and Michail Antonio (hamstring) are all ruled out of this one. Winston Reid (head), Arthur Masuaku (foot), Diafra Sakho (ankle) and Andy Carroll (groin) are all doubts.
