Angers vs Bordeaux Match Prediction
Angers and Bordeaux will square off at the Stade Jean-Bouin on Saturday evening in Ligue 1, with both teams looking to build on their recent victories in Coupe de France. Angers suffered a 2-0 defeat on the road at Lyon last time out in Ligue 1, conceding a goal in each half. Meanwhile, Bordeaux managed a goalless home draw against Nice in their most recent league fixture, despite the fact that they had several goalscoring opportunities. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news and match stats all in our SBAT preview.
Angers have been one of the most out-of-form teams in Ligue 1 towards the end of 2016, losing five and drawing two of their last seven league fixtures. The most worrying fact is that Angers have conceded two goals in each of their last six games in Ligue 1. However, Angers have returned to winning ways last weekend thanks to a narrow 1-2 win on the road against Granville in Coupe de France. Regarding their Ligue 1 campaign, Angers find themselves only in 16th spot in the standings tied on 19 points with the 15th-placed Dijon, just one point clear off the drop zone. Scoring goals has been Angers’ biggest problem throughout this Ligue 1 campaign as they hold the second worst offensive record in the division, scoring just 15 goals in 19 league fixtures. Famara Diedhiou has been Angers’ most prolific player in front of goal so far this season, as the 24-year-old striker is currently leading the club’s goalscoring charts with 6 goals in his 18 league appearances. Karl Toko Ekambi has also played a vital part in Angers’ performances this season, helping the team with 2 goals and 3 assists. On home soil, Angers were on a five-game unbeaten streak between the beginning of September to the beginning of November, but they failed to win a single match since then. They are currently on a three-game winless streak in Ligue 1 which happened in front of their fans, conceding two goals in each of these games.
Bordeaux, on the flip side, have endured a mixed run of form recently, registering two wins, three defeats and two draws in their last seven games across all competitions. Les Girondins returned to winning ways at the weekend thanks to a 0-1 win on the road against Clermont in Coupe de France, but they still looked awful in Ligue 1 over the past few months. They are winless in five league fixtures at the moment, but the most worrying fact is that Bordeaux failed to find the back of the net in the last four of these. Scoring goals has been Bordeaux’s main issue throughout this Ligue 1 campaign, as they hold one of the worst offensive records in the division with just 20 goals scored in 19 rounds. Diego Rolan is leading the club’s goalscoring charts with 4 goals under his belt, while Francois Kamano, Gaetano Laborde and Malcolm bagged 9 goals and 3 assists between them. Bordeaux currently sit in 10th place in the league table with 25 points to their name after 19 league fixtures, already nine points off the top four. Their recent away form has been a complete mixed bag with four draws, four wins and two victories in their last ten away fixtures in all competitions. The good news is that Bordeaux are unbeaten in the last two visits to the Stade Jean-Bouin, recording one victory and a draw in this term.
Angers Team News
Kevin Berigaud, Jamel Saihi, Gilles Sunu and Alexandre Letellier are all doubts, while Yoann Andreu and Billy Ketkeophomphone are both missing through injury.
Bordeaux Team News
Thomas Toure is out with a hamstring injury, while Pablo is a doubt. In addition, Adam Ounas is missing through suspension.
Betting Predictions and Tips
Both teams have struggled for consistency over the past few months, and both conceded plenty of goals in this term. Although, Bordeaux looked slightly better on the road recently, scoring at least once in eight of their last ten trips in all competitions. I’m expecting both sides to get on the scoresheet here, but I’m also backing Bordeaux to pick up at least one point.
