Yeovil will attempt to make Manchester United’s trip to the south-west as uncomfortable as possible, though they face a huge challenge to do so. I’m expecting United to have too much quality for their opponents on Friday night.

Yeovil Town Preview

Before experiencing the dizzy heights of an FA Cup tie against Manchester United, Yeovil Town were dealt a huge blow in their survival challenge, losing a relegation six-pointer with Chesterfield in stoppage time. Louis Reed gave the visiting side the lead midway through the second half, but it seemed Yeovil had done enough to earn a point when substitute Lewis Wing equalised with 10 minutes to go. However, Chesterfield had a late impact sub of their own, with Kristian Dennis netting the winner in the third minute of stoppage time to close the gap between the two sides to just a point. Yeovil are yet to win a game in League Two since the draw for the fourth round of the FA Cup was made, leaving questions to be asked over whether the glamour of the tie has ultimately taken over their attentions in recent weeks. This will be the second time in four seasons that Manchester United have made the trip to Huish Park in the FA Cup, with Yeovil hosting Louis van Gaal’s side in January 2015, as Ander Herrera and Angel di Maria scored the goals in a 2-0 win for the Premier League outfit. For a team languishing in the lower reaches of the Football League, Yeovil boast an impressive recent home record, winning 10 of their last 15 in all competitions.

Yeovil Town Team News

Rhys Browne (ankle), Oscar Gobern (hamstring), James Bailey and Daniel Alfei (both knee) are all unlikely to feature.

Manchester United Preview

Manchester United’s tightening of the ship at the back continues to be the key to their recent success, after another solid display saw them come away with a 1-0 win away to Burnley last weekend. Anthony Martial scored the only goal of the game after 54 minutes, collecting Romelu Lukaku’s pass in his stride before finding the roof of the net with a clinical finish, demonstrating his current confidence and form in this side. The Frenchman has surpassed Marcus Rashford in the current pecking order at Old Trafford, though another challenge has been brought his way, after the club confirmed the signing of Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal on Monday. Sanchez adds yet more star quality top this United team, as well as completing what is a star-studded frontline along with Lukaku, Martial, Rashford and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. All eyes will be on the Chilean this weekend should he feature as most expect him to, following a sensational move from Arsenal. Winning their last four in a row and keeping five clean sheets on the bounce in all competitions, Jose Mourinho will be delighted with the recent defensive displays from his team and will be keen for them to continue that stretch here.

Manchester United Team News

Eric Bailly (ankle) and Zlatan Ibrahimovic (hamstring) are missing through injury.
