Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Watford Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Wolves made it back-to-back league wins after a 1-0 success over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park. The only goal of the game came just after half-time through Matt Doherty, as Wolves were able to succeed on the counter-attacks. Watford’s winless run has now hit five games after a 4-0 drubbing at the hands of Bournemouth. David Brooks’ early goal had ruffled Watford, who ended up going down to 10 men after Kabasele’s red card in the 32nd minute. The numerical disadvantage and the need to chase the game ended up seeing Watford concede through Josh King, who scored a brace, and Callum Wilson.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Wolves are going through their best Premier League form since 2011 after having managed four wins and a draw in the last five games. Watford travel to the Molineux Stadium aware that Wolves have never been able to register three consecutive wins in the Premier League. However, Nuno’s men are much better compared to past Wolves teams. They may capitalise on Watford being low on confidence coming into the game. I would back a win for Wolves.

Nuno’s men have not been about goals so far this season. It is not a surprise that they have been unable to score more than 2.5 goals in any of the games this season. Watford’s defence was ripped apart by Bournemouth but it was largely due to playing with a numerical disadvantage for a majority of the game. I would pick on under 2.5 goals in this game.

Wolverhampton Wanderers Preview

Wolves are finally moving up to a position deserving of their performances this season. The club are up to 7th in the league table after managing to go six matches without defeat. During this run, Nuno’s men have picked up four wins and two draws. This run of form cannot have come at a better time for Wolves, as every newly promoted can use such extended periods of good form by transforming their entire campaign. Wolves have a solid group of players who have performed exceptionally well in home and away games. Raul Jimenez is the club’s best player, although the forward’s contribution has largely been in terms of bringing others into play.

Wolverhampton Wanderers Team News

Nuno does not have injury or suspension worries in the game.

Watford Preview

Javi Garcia’s managerial ability will be tested to the maximum as Watford try to recover from a heavy defeat and a long winless run. Even though Watford have faced several tough opposition in the last five games, the confidence from the early season form may have completely withered away. Watford now face a favourable run of fixtures that can help get their season back on track. There is a strong likelihood that the team will aim for victories in the next four league matches before they take on Liverpool just after the international break.

Watford Team News

Stefano Okaka (knock), Younes Kaboul (foot), Tom Cleverley (Achilles tendon), Marc Navarro (muscle), and Daryl Janmaat (meniscus) are unavailable for Watford due to injuries. Christian Kabasele and José Holebas are suspended for the game.
