Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Queens Park Rangers Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) fixture features two sides in opposite halves of the Championship table. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Wolves were impressive 3-0 winners last time out as they brushed aside Championship rivals in Sheffield United. The goals were shared around the team with one each for Ruben Neves, Diogo Jota and Ivan Cavaleiro. QPR picked up a much needed three points in their last match as they defeated Barnsley 1-0 at Loftus Road. A Josh Scowen goal gave them the victory in a game that saw Ryan Manning dismissed 19 minutes from the end. The reverse fixture at the end of October ended 2-1 to QPR and is the third straight meeting between the sides to end with that scoreline. Conor Washington and Matt Smith netted for the London side on that occasion and Leo Bonatini for the Black Country outfit.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Wolves are obvious short-priced favourites to win the game and despite QPR beating them last time it is hard to oppose them. I would though look to find somewhere to get more value on the price. 11 of the last 13 victories for the Black Country outfit have seen them ahead at the interval so back them in the half-time result market and then double it up in the half-time/full-time option.

Wolverhampton Wanderers Preview

It is now back-to-back victories for Wanderers who are now 11 points clear and look to be running away with the Championship title. This marks a nice spell of games with just one of their next three against a top eight side. At Molineux, they have won 11 of 15 played in the Championship this season and only lost on two occasions. The 31 home goals scored is a league best though they have only the fourth best ranked home defence. In four of their last five league games Wolves have kept a clean sheet and on 17 occasions this season. They have conceded just seven first-half goals this season which is a divisional best.

Wolverhampton Wanderers Team News

Joe Mason (stomach) and Phil Ofosu-Ayeh (ankle) are doubts. Carl Ikeme is a long-term absentee as he continues his fight against Leukemia.

Queens Park Rangers Preview

A run of three victories from their last five in the league has come at the right time for Ian Holloway who was under pressure. The Hoops now are ten points above the relegation zone though five of their next eight come against sides in the top third of the division. Away from Loftus Road, they have won just two times this season though these have come in their last five. They have failed to find the back of the net in six of their last eight on their travels. Just two of the last eight QPR Championship fixtures have seen both teams find the back of the net. Just 12 of their 32 goals this campaign have come in the opening 45 minutes with 34% coming in the final 15 minutes.

Queens Park Rangers Team News

Idrissa Sylla (calf) and Paul Smyth (thigh) are doubts while Jamie Mackie (back surgery) and David Wheeler (ankle) are long-term absentees. Ryan Manning will miss the game through suspension.
