Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Nottingham Forest Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) fixture features the league leaders entertaining a Forest looking for their first win under Aitor Karanka. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats. Wolves were held to a surprise draw at Oakwell last time in a battle with Barnsley that finished goalless. In midweek, they were in FA Cup replay action against Swansea in a tie that finished in a 2-1 defeat in Wales despite a Diogo Jota goal. Nottingham Forest suffered a 1-0 home loss in their last game going down at the City Ground to Aston Villa. It was a game low on chances and quality but the visitors just about shaded it. The reverse fixture came in mid-September from the City Ground and it was Wanderers who won that day 2-1. Diogo Jota grabbed a brace on that occasion for the visitors while Mustapha Carayol scored for the hosts.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Wolves are the customary short price to win the game and you are left with two options looking to enhance the price by taking them to win to nil or to be ahead at half-time and full-time. The alternative is to try to find angles of value in other markets and this is the route I would recommend. In six of their last eight Wolves have kept a clean sheet and they come up against a Forest side without a league goal in four games and who looked toothless against Villa in their last fixture. Another bet worth taking is an anytime goalscorer bet on Barry Douglas who has two in the last three and if he continues in the wing-back role looks a value selection as he has a licence to get forward.

Wolverhampton Wanderers Preview

Wolves are still in unbeaten in 13 league games but have drawn two of their last four both of which came against strugglers in Millwall and Barnsley. The gap is currently ten points between them and Derby in second and they have three of their next four at home. At Molienux, it is seven victories and two draws from their last nine and no defeat in 11 matches. They have kept clean sheets in each of their last three in front of their own fans and shipped just two in their last six at their own ground. Just five of the 20 goals the Black County outfit have conceded in the league this season have come in the first-half. They have been behind just once this campaign going into the interval.

Wolverhampton Wanderers Team News

Ruben Vinagre will miss out through suspension while Joe Mason (stomach) and Phil Ofosu-Ayeh (ankle) are doubts. Carl Ikeme is a long-term absentee as he continues his fight against Leukemia.

Nottingham Forest Preview

Although the Tricky Trees did beat Arsenal in the FA Cup it is now six without a victory in the Championship. This is the first of a difficult spell of games with each of the next three in the league against sides in the top ten. Away from the City Ground, it is six without a victory though they have picked up useful points at Leeds and Preston in their last two road trips. The 25 they have conceded on their travels gives them the joint-third worst record in the division. The last three Nottingham Forest league fixtures have produced a total of just three goals and it is four without a goal for themselves. In none of their last 11 divisional ties have the East Midlands side gone in ahead at the break.

Nottingham Forest Team News

Daryl Murphy (back) is a doubt while Joe Worrall will return after suspension.
