Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Leicester City Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Wolves suffered their biggest league defeat of the campaign after a 3-0 loss against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium. Gabriel Jesus opened the scoring after just 10 minutes on the clock and City’s position was made substantially stronger with Willy Boly’s straight red card. Jesus made it 2-0 with a penalty just before the break, while a second-half own goal from Conor Coady provided a big win for City. Leicester City lost for a second consecutive match after Southampton picked up a 2-1 success at the King Power Stadium. Leicester City were booed off the pitch after a penalty from James Ward-Prowse and Shane Long put Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men in a commanding position even with just 10 men on the pitch. Yan Valery was sent off just before half-time with two yellow cards. Even though Wilfrid Ndidi pulled one back in the second half, there was no come back.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Wolves have lost back-to-back games in the league to put a great deal of pressure on the team, but it is less than what Leicester are going through at the moment. Claude Puel admitted that fans are frustrated about the recent set of results. Leicester have a decent away record with an almost 50% success rate this season. Meanwhile, Wolves have not been so great at the Molineux Stadium with only a return of four wins. The two teams played out a goalless draw in the League Cup meeting earlier in the campaign. I would go with a similar result.

This match sees both teams managing a goal or less than a goal per match in the last six. Leicester are unlikely to shift away from the defensive tactics employed by Claude Puel, while Wolves have made little changes to the counter-attacking style throughout the campaign. I would back under 2.5 goals.

Wolverhampton Wanderers Preview

Nuno has been able to get Wolves playing in an attractive brand of football that has endeared them to the entire league. However, Wolves have reasons to be concerned about the next few weeks after suffering back-to-back league defeats. The defeats against Crystal Palace and Manchester City have pushed the team outside the top 10 places. Nuno also has to be wary about the team’s energy levels going into the second half of the campaign, as he has made little changes to the squad even for cup matches.

Wolverhampton Wanderers Team News

Willy Boly is unavailable for the next three matches due to a suspension.

Leicester City Preview

Leicester City have lost three in the last four matches to take away any confidence built up by the winds over Chelsea and Manchester City. The club continue to have offensive issues with manager Claude Puel’s defensive tactics often affecting the team. Jamie Vardy has not been at his best in the 2018-19 campaign and most of the good things have been built by players like James Madison, who has often been excellent while playing in a number 10 role. Leicester have back-to-back away matches to further increase the pressure on the team.

Leicester City Team News

Daniel Amartey (broken ankle) and Jonny Evans (broken toe) are unavailable for Leicester.
