Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Leeds United Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Wednesday evening (19:45) fixture pits two sides in the top seven of the Championship table. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats. Wolves continued their winning run as they defeated Reading 2-0 at the Madejski Stadium on Saturday. They took a 16th minute lead through Ivan Cavaleiro and then wrapped up the points in the 88th minute through Matt Doherty. Leeds put to an end a poor run of form as they defeated Middlesbrough 2-1 at Elland Road on Sunday. A goal each from Pablo Hernandez and Egzijan Alioski put them in front before a Boro penalty left them hanging on for 13 minutes. The away side won both meetings last season with Leeds winning 1-0 at Molineux and Wolves winning 1-0 at Elland Road. 12 of the last 20 goals netted in recent meetings between the pair have come in the second-half.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Wolves are very short and while I think they can and will win the game you would be best served to look around for other markets to secure that value. I like the Wolves to be ahead at half-time and again at full-time with each of their last four victories coming by this means. Also, take a small interest on 2-0 in the correct score market which has been the result of each of the last three for the Midlands outfit.

Wolverhampton Wanderers Preview

It is three straight victories for Wolves with these coming by the same 2-0 scoreline as they are looking the class act in the division. This is their highest ranked opponent in their next nine so that lead at the top could be extended by the end of that run. At Molineux, it is five victories and one draw from their last six with three of these victories coming to nil. Three of their last five at their own ground have gone over 2.5 goals and the two that have not have produced two goals. Five of the last seven goals the Black Country outfit have netted in games have come in the opening 45 minutes. Just four of the 15 they have conceded this season have come in the opening half.

Wolverhampton Wanderers Team News

Barry Douglas returns from suspension while Ruben Neves is a booking away from missing a game. Carl Ikeme (cancer) and Phil Ofosu-Ayeh (hip) continue to be absent.

Leeds United Preview

A run of three straight league defeats came to an end for United last time out but it is still just two victories from their last eight fixtures. They sit in seventh place and face three of their next four on the road. Away from Elland Road, they won their penultimate game at Bristol City but have lost four of their last five. Each of their last four on their travels has gone over 2.5 goals with two of them going over 3.5. Both teams to score has happened in each of the last four for the Yorkshire outfit. They have conceded at least once in the final 20 minutes of each of their last four and in total six times.

Leeds United Team News

Stuart Dallas (unknown) is the only doubt for the Whites.
