Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Hull City Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Tuesday evening game (19:45) will have implications at both ends of the Championship table.  Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Wolves made it three successive victories as they won 2-1 at Middlesbrough thanks to goals from Helder Costa and Ivan Cavaleiro.  It was not without a cost though as they had both Ruben Neves and Matt Doherty dismissed.

Hull battled out a home draw with Aston Villa in their last fixture in a game that finished goalless.  The result was probably a fair reflection of a game that was low on chances and quality.

The reverse fixture came in mid-August and was won by the Black Country side 3-2 in an entertaining battle.  Ruben Neves, Diogo Jota and Nouha Dicko bagged for Wanderers and Michael Dawson and a David Meyler penalty for City.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Wolves are strong favourites to win this game though at the prices I do not think they look a good bet.  If you wanted to back them maybe find a way to enhance them such as half-time/full-time as they are fast starters.

I want to get a positive angle to Hull while not going as far to think they will beat Wolves I think they can cause a few problems.  I like the look of both teams to score here as the Tigers have netted in four of their last five on the road while four of the last six visitors to Molineux have bagged at least once.

Eight of the last 12 the hosts have played have seen more goals in the opening 45 minutes than the second while this happened in three of the last five for the visitors so taking the first-half to be highest scoring is also worthwhile.

YES in the both teams to score market

First 45 minutes to be highest scoring half

Wolverhampton Wanderers Preview

Wanderers have won each of their last three as they remain six points above Cardiff (who have a game in hand) and most importantly 13 above Fulham in third.  Three of their next four at Molienux with the other away to Cardiff.

At Molienux, they are unbeaten in their last five winning four of these and drawing the other fixture.  Three of their next five at their own ground have seen both teams find the back of the net.

Helder Costa has four in his last nine appearances and has scored in each of his last two starts.  No side have scored more first-half goals than Wolves who have netted 38 times in the opening 45 minutes.

Wolverhampton Wanderers Team News

Matt Doherty and Rueben Neves will miss the game through suspension. Diogo Jota (ankle), Bright Enobakhare (unknown), Joe Mason (stomach) and Phil Ofosu-Ayeh (ankle) are doubts.  Carl Ikeme is a long-term absentee as he continues his fight against Leukemia.

Hull City Preview

The Tigers have taken seven points from their last four fixtures a run that has put them away from the relegation zone.  They are still not safe but they are six points above Barnsley who are currently third from bottom.

Away from the KC Stadium, they have had a mixed bag of results lately with two victories and two defeats from their last four.  Harry Wilson has found the back of the net in two of their last four on the road.

Four of the last five Championship matches that Hull have played have seen over 2.5 goals and produced a total of 16 goals.  Six of their last seven meetings with Wolves have seen both teams find the back of the net.

Hull City Team News

Angus MacDonald, Evandro (both unknown), Stephen Kingsley (groin) and Moses Odubajo (knee) are doubts. James Weir (also knee) is a long-term absentee.
