Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Bristol City Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

This Tuesday evening (19:45) game features two sides in the top-half of the Championship table.  Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats. Wolves had just too much for Millwall who they defeated 1-0 at Molineux on Saturday afternoon.  They had more of the ball and created more chances but only netted once through Diogo Jota. Bristol City also were victorious on Saturday afternoon as they went to Reading and claimed all three points thanks to an 84th minute Aden Flint goal. The Robins were probably flattered by the three points but they will not complain. The home side has won each of the last five meetings between the pair including in both encounters last season.  Both these matches were high scoring with the game at Ashton Gate ending 3-1 and the one at Molineux 3-2.

Betting Tips and Predictions

I think Wolves can win the game here but the price is too short to take so I am looking for ways to enhance it. The Black Country outfit netted after just ten minutes in their last game and two of their three home games this season have seen them ahead at half-time and play out possession to win the game so I will take them to do the same here. This bet also leads to a small interest in the half-time/full-time correct score double market where a small stake bet on 1-0 at the interval and at the end makes sense.

Wolverhampton Wanderers Preview

It has been a good start to the season for Wolves who have four wins, one draw and a solitary defeat from their opening six league fixtures.  They sit in third place and have shown themselves to be among the strong frontrunners for Championship promotion. At home, it is two victories and one defeat from their three matches so far with that solitary loss coming in a closely fought battle with top-of-the-table Cardiff.  The games at Molineux have been low scoring so far with just five goals produced and two of them ending in 1-0 results. Leo Bonatini and Diego Jota are the only players for the Black Country outfit to have netted more than once in the league with two each.  50% of the goals they have bagged have either come in the opening 15 minutes or the final 15.

Wolverhampton Wanderers Team News

Carl Ikeme (hamstring) and Kortney Hause (knock) are doubts while Helder Costa (ankle), Phil Ofosu-Ayeh (hip) and Wily Boly (hamstring) are all ruled out.

Bristol City Preview

It has been a strong start to the season for a side many thought would struggle but have won two, drawn three and lost just one of their first six.  This has been good enough to put them in ninth place and with three of their next five at home they will be hopeful of climbing further. On the road, it is one win, one draw and one defeat from their first three though if you go back they have recorded just three victories in 21 away fixtures.  The last match with Reading was the first of their three on their travels which did not go over 2.5 goals and see both teams score.

Bristol City Team News

Milan Djuric is still ruled out with a groin strain.
