Willem II vs SC Heerenveen Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

Willem II and SC Heerenveen will square off at the Koning Willem II Stadion on Saturday afternoon, with both sides looking to build on their recent victories in the Eredivisie. Willem II picked up a comfortable 1-3 away victory at Roda JC Kerkrade last time out in the Eredivisie thanks to a brace from Etien Velikonja and another goal from Fran Sol. Meanwhile, SC Heerenveen fought back from one-goal down to secure a 1-2 victory on the road at Excelsior thanks to second-half goals from Arber Zeneli and Marco Rojas. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news, match stats and odds all in our SBAT preview.

Betting Predictions and Tips - Match Odds

Heerenveen have won two of the last three meetings with Willem II, but they are winless in the last six visits to the Koning Willem II Stadion. Willem II come into this tie with renewed confidence following their first victory of the season last weekend, while Heerenveen will look to extend their unbeaten start to the season to six games. It’s a difficult one to call, but I’m expecting Heerenveen to continue their good start to the season and I think that Heerenveen Draw No Bet priced at odds 4/7 is a solid bet.

Betting Prediction: Heerenveen Draw No Bet at odds 4/7 with Bet365

Willem II v SC Heerenveen - Correct score betting tips and odds

It should be a one-sided clash if we are taking into account both teams’ form in this early part of the campaign, but Heerenveen have struggled in their trips to Koning Willem II Stadion over the past few years. I’m still backing them to win, but I’m expecting a well-contested game, which means that our correct score prediction is:

SC Heerenveen to win 2-1 at odds 8/1 with Bet365

Willem II v SC Heerenveen - Total Goals predictions and odds

In terms of goals, this should be an entertaining affair given the fact that 13 of the last 15 meetings between these two sides have seen more than three goals scored. Furthermore, four of Willem’s five games in the Eredivisie so far this season have been high-scoring affairs, while Heerenveen have scored at least two goals in four of their five league games.

Total goals prediction: Over 2.5 goals at 8/11 with Bet365

Willem II Preview

Willem II head into this clash high on confidence following their 1-3 triumph over Roda JC Kerkrade last time out, which was their first victory of the new Eredivisie season. The summer signing Etien Velikonja has been the man of the match as he managed to score a first-half brace within the space 26 minutes. Prior to this result, Willem II suffered defeats in each of their opening four rounds, conceding at least two goals in each of these. Actually, keeping the ball out of their own net has been Willem II’s biggest problem in this early part of the campaign as they hold the third worst defensive record in the division, conceding 12 goals in five rounds. At the other end of the pitch, Willem have managed to score only five goals in five games, including three from their top scorer Fran Sol. The 25-year-old striker has been Willem’s top scorer last season with ten goals in 30 league appearances. At home, Willem II are currently on a three-game losing streak in the Eredivisie since a 2-0 victory over Go Ahead Eagles back in the middle of April. The good news is that Willem II are undefeated in the last six home meetings with SC Heerenveen in the Eredivisie, winning five in the process. Furthermore, Willem have scored at least two goals in each of their last six home games against Heerenveen.

Willem II Team News

Bartholomew Ogbeche is back in training, but Mo El Hankouri, Asumah Abubakar and Victor van den Bogert are still doubts. In addition, Pedro Chirivella is missing through suspension.

SC Heerenveen Preview

On the contrary, SC Heerenveen made a strong start to the season, drawing two and winning three of their opening five games in the Eredivisie. They come into this tie on the back of a three-game winning streak in the league, scoring two goals in each of these. Heerenveen sit comfortably in 4th position in the Eredivisie table with eleven points under their belts after five rounds, just one point behind the joint leaders AZ Alkmaar, PSV Eindhoven and Feyenoord. They have looked very well-organized at both ends of the field in this early part of the season, scoring ten goals and conceding just six in five rounds. Morten Thorsby has enjoyed an excellent start to the season, helping the team with four goals and one assist in his five league appearances. Reza Ghoochannejhad and Arber Zeneli have also been in fine shape in this early part of the campaign, as they bagged four goals and one assist between them. Away from home, Heerenveen are unbeaten in three league trips so far this season, but the bad news is that they are winless in the last six visits to the Koning Willem II Stadion.

SC Heerenveen Team News

Kik Pierie is a doubt, but Warner Hahn is still missing through a shoulder injury.
