West Ham United Preview

There’s been a dramatic turnaround at West Ham United, as David Moyes made it three games unbeaten last weekend with a convincing 3-0 win away to Stoke City. With kick-off delayed by an hour, the Hammers came out the blocks the quickest, with Mark Noble netting a 19th minute penalty to put the visitors in front. Marko Arnautovic enjoyed his return to Stoke by getting his name on the scoresheet with an excellent finish, as Diafra Sakho ensured there was no doubt in the result with a goal five minutes from time. Confidence and belief appears to be back amongst this squad of players, who have criminally underperformed so far this season, particularly before the arrival of Moyes. Despite going out of the Carabao Cup in midweek, there is still a real feel-good factor amongst the club heading into this weekend, having kept three clean sheets in a row in the Premier League. Before that run, West Ham had the worst defensive record in the division, but have since been surpassed by both Stoke and Watford for that unwanted tag. Unbeaten in three at home, anything less than three points here shall not suffice a more expectant Hammers support.

West Ham United Team News

Jose Fonte (ankle) is missing, while Pablo Zabaleta (leg), Mark Noble (hamstring) and Marko Arnautovic (calf) will all hope to shake off knocks to be involved.

Newcastle United Preview

If ever there was a reason for Rafa Benitez to demand funds in January, then entering the relegation zone must be it after he saw his Newcastle side drop to 18th in the table following a 1-0 defeat at home to Arsenal. On the whole, the game lacked quality throughout but was won by one moment of magic, as Mesut Ozil struck a superb volley past the helpless Rob Elliot to give Arsenal an unconvincing three points at the Emirates Stadium. Benitez remained somewhat defiant and hopeful after the game that his team could recover and bounce back in the second half of the season, but the promises of a takeover must be completely promptly to give themselves the best possible chance of doing so. The Arsenal defeat was their fourth in a row in the Premier League - the second time they have totalled such a consecutive losing streak this season - and have lost eight of their last nine in the league. Also without a win in seven away from home, it’s hardly surprising to see that Newcastle have now dropped into the bottom three as they now look to win away to West Ham for the first time since January 2014 in what will be their visit to the London Stadium.

Newcastle United Team News

Jonjo Shelvey misses out through suspension, while Jesus Gamez (knock), Massadio Haidara (knee) and Aleksandar Mitrovic (back) are all doubtful.
