West Ham United vs Manchester United Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

West Ham were able to snatch a point out of the difficult game against Chelsea as it finished as a goalless draw. Yet, West Ham had the better of clear-cut chances with Yarmolenko missing a free header from point-blank range. The hammers went on to get a comprehensive 8-0 win over Macclesfield Town in the League Cup. Manchester United dropped more points after a 1-1 draw with Wolves at Old Trafford. Fred’s first goal in the red of United provided the hosts with the lead after 18 minutes. Wolves were always in the game and equalised through Joao Moutinho in the 53rd minute. United went on to lose on penalties to Derby County, who snatched a 2-2 draw at Old Trafford despite playing with 10 men, in the League Cup.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

West Ham picked up a goalless draw in their last home game against Manchester United. A similar point would make the hammers happy, although Pellegrini has been voicing about the need for more wins in order to start picking up pace in the table. West Ham are aware of United’s concentration being scattered by all the talk surrounding manager Jose Mourinho and Paul Pogba. An exit appears to be leaving for one of those individuals, but it has certainly had a major impact on United’s campaign. It is fair to expect another timid performance from the Red Devils and I would go with a draw.

Even though the hammers scored eight goals in the midweek game against Macclesfield, the quality of Manchester United will not allow the hosts to have a free run. At the same time, United have had defensive issues while the club’s quality going forward is also well-known with players like Lukaku leading the line-up. I would pick both teams to score.

West Ham United Preview

Pellegrini has been showing signs of settling into life at West Ham after leading the club to three wins in the last five games across all competitions. The hammers had a disastrous start with three consecutive losses in the Premier League. They came about so quick that Pellegrini had to receive a vote of confidence just a few weeks into his job. Now, however, there are signs of the players buying into the manager’s ideas and it was apparent in the way West Ham kept their compact shape against Chelsea.

West Ham United Team News

Javier Hernandez (virus), Marko Arnautovic (knee), Andrew Carroll (ankle), Jack Wilshere (ankle), Manuel Lanzini (cruciate ligament), Winston Reid (ligament), Nathan Holland (ankle), and Moses Makasi (knee) are unavailable for the hammers.

Manchester United Preview

Jose Mourinho has certainly not helped Manchester United’s case from the start of the campaign. Prior to the start of the season, the manager had been complaining publicly about the lack of investment into the squad. Now, he has started falling out with key individuals like Paul Pogba, who has been stripped of vice captaincy in the aftermath of the defeat against Derby County. United may have lost only one game in the last five fixtures, but they have been showing signs of a club deep in trouble.

Manchester United Team News

Marcos Rojo is the only player on the sidelines for Mourinho.
