West Ham United vs Everton Match Prediction

By Dean Carr

West Ham United host Everton at the London Stadium on 22/04/17 as the home side look to continue their climb away from the relegation zone. A late error cost West Ham all three points at the weekend, drawing 2-2 away to Sunderland. Everton meanwhile continued their excellent home form with a 3-1 win over Burnley last time out. Read on for a full match preview complete with betting tips and predictions.

Betting Tips and Predictions

With West Ham winning just one of their last five at home and Everton winning one of six on the road, this is a game which is up for grabs for either side to win. The home side have a number of injury concerns and I can see this being a draw., with Romelu Lukaku - who loves getting on the scoresheet against West Ham - netting once again.

Both teams to score YES - 4/7

Romelu Lukaku to score first - 3/1

Draw - 23/10

West Ham Preview

West Ham were unable to come away from their visit to Sunderland on Saturday with maximum points as a late goal from the Black Cats secured a 2-2 draw from the Premier League’s bottom club. Andre Ayew poked West Ham in front with a calm finish, but winger Wahbi Khazri pulled the home side level heading into the break. James Collins rose highest from Robert Snodgrass’ corner as Slaven Bilic’s men came out quick at the start of the second half. However, Darren Randolph made the rashest of decisions to come for a cross where he really should’ve stayed at home, resulting in the Irish international dropping the ball towards Fabio Borini who drilled the ball home. With four points in their last two games, they have now drawn themselves nine points clear of the relegation zone, although they will feel slight regret that total doesn’t stand at eleven, but have eased fears significantly in recent weeks. Their victory over Swansea last time out at the London Stadium was just their second home win of 2017, as the team continue to struggle to adapt and feel comfortable in their new surroundings. Even when they win at home, it’s been far from convincing from the Hammers, who have tasted success six times at home this term, five of which have come by a tight 1-0 scoreline.

Everton Preview

Unlike their opponents, Everton have had no issue playing at home this season, with the weekend’s 3-1 success over Burnley their eighth in a row in the Premier League at Goodison Park. After a goalless first half, captain Phil Jagielka netted his third goal in three games to put his team in front. That lead lasted just three minutes, though, as Sam Vokes’ penalty pulled Burnley back in the game, only for two goals in three minutes to follow soon after. Ross Barkley’s effort was deflected in off Clarets defender Ben Mee to restore the Toffees’ advantage, before the Premier League’s leading scorer, Romelu Lukaku, added to his tally for the season to seal the three points. Ronald Koeman’s men, after an often patchy opening, have had an excellent second half of the season and must feel more than a shred of regret that they were unable to begin the campaign in such fashion. Their victory on Saturday saw them momentarily lift themselves above Arsenal in the table into 6th and they look on course to seal a place in the Europa League via 7th place. It is their away form, though, that has proved to be Everton’s Achilles this season and they are currently without a win in their last five on the road in the Premier League. Their eyes will be firmly locked on breaking into the top six this campaign and will target three points here to aid their chances of doing so.
