West Ham United vs Chelsea Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

West Ham finally picked up a first win of the campaign after beating Everton 3-1 at Goodison Park. Andriy Yarmolenko came up with a brace inside 31 minutes to put West Ham in a strong position. Even though Gylfi Sigurdsson was able to pull one back just before half-time, the Hammers re-established the two-goal lead in the second half through Marko Arnautovic. Chelsea were able to pick up a 4-1 win over Cardiff City despite falling to a goal from Sol Bamba. A hat-trick from Eden Hazard along with the long-range effort from Willian help Chelsea to a comfortable win. Maurizio Sarri’s men went on to beat PAOK 1-0 in the Europa League.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Chelsea have been playing a lot of good football of late, but tiredness will be a huge factor for the blues after having landed from Greece a day later than scheduled. West Ham have prepared for this game for the last one week and home fans will be sensing an opportunity for the hammers to test blood from this fixture once again. At the same time, Chelsea are more than good enough with the likes of Giroud and Eden Hazard rested. I would back a draw.

The home team may be struggling without a number of key players in the lineup but they have the potential to capitalise on Chelsea’s tiredness. Maurizio Sarri has brought attacking football to the Bridge but it has also been at the cost of defensive solidarity. I would choose both teams to score.

West Ham United Preview

The Hammers were finally able to do away with a disastrous start to the campaign and Manuel Pellegrini required a major rethink in order to come up with the first win. The tactical setup identified against Everton may not be the final piece of the jigsaw, as Pellegrini made tweak the line-up even further in order to take advantage of the wealth of talent available at his disposal. West Ham may possess a strong attacking line-up but a lengthy injury list has robbed Pellegrini of his choices coming into the game.

West Ham United Team News

Javier Hernandez (virus) and Marko Arnautovic (knee) are doubtful for the game. Moses Makasi (knee), Nathan Holland (ankle), Andrew Carroll (ankle), Grady Diangana (knock), Jack Wilshere (ankle), Manuel Lanzini (cruciate ligament), and Winston Reid (ligament) are the players unavailable for West Ham.

Chelsea Preview

The blues have been a strong team in the first few weeks of the season. Maurizio Sarri has consistently been able to improve the team on a number of fronts. A major difference compared to the previous versions of Chelsea is the ability to entertain fans. Chelsea are playing an attractive brand of football as expected from Sarri. Even though the manager has been unable to win any major honours with the style of football, Chelsea will be hoping for the best. The club’s top scorer this season is Eden Hazard with five league goals already.

Chelsea Team News

Pedro (shoulder), Mateo Kovacic (thigh), and Marco van Ginkel (cruciate ligament) are unavailable for Chelsea.
