West Ham United vs Arsenal Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

West Ham’s mediocre form continued with the team drawing 2-2 with Brighton at home. After a goalless first half, two quickfire goals – from Dale Stephens and Shane Duffy – put Chris Hughton’s men in a strong position. However, Marko Arnautovic was able to snatch a point for West Ham with a brace in the space of two minutes. West Ham went on to beat Birmingham City 2-0 in the FA Cup last weekend. Arsenal picked up a crucial 4-1 win over Fulham to recover from the Liverpool loss. Granit Xhaka and Alexandre Lacazette put Arsenal 2-0 up after 55 minutes but Aboubakar Kamara’s goal threatened an equaliser from the Cottagers. Late goals from Aaron Ramsey and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang were able to put Arsenal in charge of the match. The Gunners picked up a 3-0 win over Blackpool in the FA Cup.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Arsenal travel to the London Stadium with a stellar away record against West Ham over the years. The last away defeat for the Gunners against the Hammers was back in 2006. Even though West Ham are better equipped than in the last few years, the large number of injury problems do place Manuel Pellegrini’s men at a significant disadvantage. I would pick a win for Arsenal at a great price.

A strength of West Ham has been the ability to score goals with a potent offence. Even with the likes of Javier Hernandez and Marko Arnautovic unavailable due to injuries, West Ham are a threat going forward. Arsenal’s defensive problems could worsen with the team without a clean sheet in the last five league matches. I would pick both teams to score.

West Ham United Preview

Manuel Pellegrini is once again having to deal with West Ham going through a drop in form and the mountain of players unavailable due to injuries continues to grow. West Ham were able to achieve some kind of a positivity with the FA Cup win during the weekend. Due to concerns surrounding the future of Marko Arnautovic, more focus is likely to be on Felipe Anderson, who has been able to experience wonderful form in the last few weeks.

West Ham United Team News

Marko Arnautovic (back), Javier Hernandez (hamstring), Jack Wilshere (ankle), Carlos Sanchez (ligament), Andriy Yarmolenko (Achilles tendon), Manuel Lanzini (cruciate ligament), Ryan Fredericks (shin), Winston Reid (ligament), and Fabian Balbuena (knee) are unavailable for the Hammers.

Arsenal Preview

Unai Emery has made Arsenal entertaining to watch but it has not exactly provided a great set of results in recent weeks for the Gunners. It is mostly down to a defence that has been shaky. The news of Aaron Ramsey’s departure will arrive in the next few days and Arsenal are yet to reinforce a defence, which has been short on numbers due to mounting injury problems. Arsenal do have the ability to outscore their opponents the defensive performances have to improve.

Arsenal Team News

Hector Bellerin (calf), Danny Welbeck (ankle), Henrikh Mkhitaryan (foot), and Rob Holding (cruciate ligament) are unavailable for the Gunners.
