West Bromwich Albion vs Reading Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) fixture features two sides in opposite halves of the Championship table. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

West Brom saw their three-game winning run come to an end in midweek but are still are unbeaten in six following a 2-2 draw with Sheffield Wednesday. The Baggies netted twice in the last five minutes (once through Harvey Barnes and an own goal) to rescue a point from the match.

Reading saw their two-game unbeaten run come to an end with a disappointing 1-0 home loss to fellow strugglers QPR. The Royals can have few complaints about the result in a performance that was strangely flat.

These two sides were in different divisions last season so you have to go back to 2016 for their last meeting. This was in the FA Cup and the Berkshire outfit won this 3-1 meaning they have won three of the last four head-to-heads.

Betting Tips and Predictions

It is hard to oppose West Brom here against a struggling Reading side though the prices do not scream value so look for a way to enhance this. The Baggies tend to ship goals so backing them to win and yes in the both teams to score market makes sense while siding with the home side to be ahead at half-time and then again at full-time also appeals.

West Bromwich Albion Preview

The Baggies took just one point from their first two fixtures but have not looked back since and have 21 from the next nine (out of 27). They sit in fourth place one point behind a trio of teams on 22 points.

At the Hawthorns, they have won each of their last four and no side has scored more home goals than the 16 they have managed. Dwight Gayle has netted five times in his last four appearances in front of his own fans.

West Brom are slow starters with just eight of the 27 they have scored in the Championship coming in the first-half. Just six of the 16 they have conceded have come in the opening 45 minutes.

West Bromwich Albion Team News

Bakary Sako (broken ankle) has been ruled out of this fixture.

Reading Preview

The Royals have been a mixed bag of late with two victories, two defeats and a draw from their last five. They sit 20th in the Championship table and face three of their next four on the road.

Away from the Madejski Stadium, they are unbeaten in their last four with three of these ending in a draw. Each of their last four on the road have seen both teams find the back of the net.

Reading have been level in seven of their 11 going into the break and in four of their five when looking just at away games. 64% of their goals have come in the second-half with 50% in the final 30 minutes.

Reading Team News

Jon Dadhi Bodhvarsson (unknown) Adrian Popa (ankle), Dave Edwards, David Meyler (both knee), Sam Baldock (calf) and Jordan Obita (cruciate) are all doubts.
