West Bromwich Albion vs Newcastle United Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

Two of the worst Premier League teams at the moment will square off on Tuesday night, as West Brom welcome Newcastle United at the Hawthorns. West Brom managed a creditable 1-1 away draw at Tottenham Hotspur last time out in the Premier League, with Jose Rondon scoring an early goal. On the other hand, Newcastle United lost 0-3 at home at the hands of Watford at the weekend, in a game in which they delivered just one shot on target. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news, match stats and odds all in our SBAT preview. Feel free to visit our Bet of the day page to check our best daily tips.

Betting Predictions and Tips

It’s difficult to predict the winner here as both teams have been struggling for form recently. West Brom have conceded at least twice in each of their last four competitive home games, while Newcastle have allowed at least two goals in two of their last three league trips. West Brom looked solid against Tottenham last time out, and I’m backing them to get back to winning ways in this one.

West Bromwich Albion Preview

West Brom may be without a victory in the last 12 games across all competitions, but their performance at Wembley last weekend was definitely a big step in the right direction. Tony Pulis has been sacked following West Brom’s recent performances and former manager Gary Megson has come in to save the day on a caretaker basis and he already managed an unexpected point from their fixture against Tottenham at the weekend. The Baggies have only won two of their 13 league games this season and are currently on an eleven-game winless streak in the Premier League. At home, West Brom are without a victory in their last six home games across all competitions, conceding at least two goals in four of these. However, it must be said that West Brom’s home defeats in the Premier League have come at the hands of Manchester City and Chelsea. The good news is that West Brom have won two of their last three home meetings with Newcastle United in the Premier League, keeping a clean sheet in each of these. Jay Rodriguez and Jose Rondon are the team’s joint topscorers at the moment with two goals each under their belts.

West Bromwich Albion Team News

Chris Brunt and Nacer Chadli are both doubts, but Craig Dawson and James Morrison are both missing through injury.

Newcastle United Preview

Newcastle United, on the flip side, have enjoyed a solid run between the end of August to the end of October, having lost just once in seven league fixtures. However, their recent form has seen them lose four consecutive games in the Premier League, conceding nine goals and scoring just once in the process. This leaves Newcastle only 14th in the league table tied on 14 points with Bournemouth and Leicester, just four points clear of the bottom three. Scoring goals has been the Magpies’ main issue throughout this campaign as they hold one of the worst attacking records in the division, scoring just eleven goals in 13 rounds. Joselu and Jamaal Lascelles are the team’s joint topscorers with two goals each under their belts, while Matt Ritchie has helped the team with four assists. Newcastle’s away form this season hasn’t been great as they have only won once in six league trips and are currently on a four-game winless streak. Furthermore, Newcastle have only won one of their last four visits to the Hawthorns, scoring just three goals in this term.

Newcastle United Team News

Jamaal Lascelles is a doubt, while Christian Atsu is missing through a thigh injury. The good news is that Massadio Haidara and Paul Dummett are both back in training.
