West Bromwich Albion vs Millwall Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) fixture features two sides in the opposite half of the Championship table. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats. West Brom stretched their unbeaten run to three with a 4-2 defeat of Bristol City thanks to a Jay Rodriguez brace and one each from Dwight Gayle and Harvey Barnes. The result probably flattered the Baggies with the expected goals data showing little to choose between the pair. Millwall are now five without a victory following a 2-0 loss at Loftus Road to QPR in a local derby. The Lions can have few complaints about the result as they were second best to the Rs. These two sides were in different divisions last season so you have to go back to the 2003/04 season for their last meeting so it is hard to read too much into their head-to-head record. For what it is worth the Baggies have won just two of their last six matches against the London outfit.

Betting Tips and Predictions

The Baggies should win this but the prices reflect this and I could not be backing the home side to win at those odds.  A better angle of approach is to split the stakes across the in-form strike pair and back West Brom to win and Dwight Gayle to score first and then the same bet with Jay Rodriguez.

Dwight Gayle to score first and West Brom to win

Jay Rodriguez to score first and West Brom to win

West Bromwich Albion Preview

The Baggies have made a good start to life back in the Championship with four victories, two draws and two defeats from their opening eight.  They sit fourth in the table while the expected goals data has them a little lower in 12th.

At the Hawthorns, it is three victories and one defeat from their first four with all fixtures seeing both teams net.  Jay Rodriguez and Dwight Gayle both have four goals each from their last three home appearances.

West Brom have seen five of their eight go over 2.5 goals and are averaging a league high four goals per fixture.  Seven of the eight the Black Country have played this season have seen both teams score.

West Bromwich Albion Team News

James Morrison (groin) is a doubt ahead of this fixture.

Millwall Preview

The Lions have made a tough start to the campaign with just one win, three draws and four defeats from their opening eight.  They sit down in 21st place while the expected goals data has them marginally higher in 18th.

Away from the Den, they have taken just one points this season and lost each of their last three.  A lack of road goals is an issue for the London outfit who have netted just once on their travels this campaign.

Millwall have seen just 2.25 goals per fixture with four of their eight going under 2.5 goals and four going over.  Five of the eight they have played in the league have seen both teams find the back of the net.

Millwall Team News

Shaun Hutchinson (knee) is their only doubt ahead of this fixture.
