West Bromwich Albion Preview

West Brom picked up their first victory since August last time out, defeating League Two side Exeter City 2-0 at St. James’ Park to progress to the fourth round of the FA Cup. Salomon Rondon relieved a weight of pressure from the team’s shoulders with the opening goal after scoring the first goal two minutes in, before Jay Rodriguez scored their second midway through the first half. Hal Robson-Kanu missed out on the opportunity to get on the scoresheet when his penalty was saved, but it didn’t prove costly as West Brom held on for the win. It made the 320-mile round trip worthwhile for the Baggies supporters, who waited four long months to see their team pick up a victory of any kind, last doing so in the League Cup against another League Two side, Accrington Stanley. August 19 was the last time West Brom managed a win over a Premier League side, where they registered what has since become an extremely impressive 1-0 win over Burnley at Turf Moor, that coming a week after kicking off the campaign with a home win over Bournemouth by the same scoreline. However, no wins since has left Alan Pardew the unenviable task of rescuing this sinking ship, with West Brom currently four points adrift of safety.

West Bromwich Albion Team News

Nacer Chadli (hip) is missing, while Kieran Gibbs (knock), Jonny Evans (foot) and James Morrison (achilles) are all doubts.

Brighton & Hove Albion Preview

Brighton booked their place in the next round of the FA Cup on Monday evening after overcoming rivals Crystal Palace with a 2-1 win at the Amex Stadium. The Seagulls went in ahead at half-time when Dale Stephens scored the opener 25 minutes in, though Bakary Sako’s low drive went in off the post to equalise in the 69th minute. However, Brighton won the game in the dying minutes when Glenn Murray nudged home Uwe Hunemeier’s downward header to come back and haunt his former side and secure Brighton’s place in the next round of the FA Cup. The cup tie gave Brighton a welcome respite from their recent struggles in the Premier League, where they have won just one of their previous 11 games - that being a 1-0 win over an out-of-form Watford team. Chris Hughton will not be completely hoodwinked by Brighton’s current position of 12th, given the fact they are only two points above the relegation zone and are one of a cluster of sides currently in danger of being involved in a relegation battle come the end of the season. With just one point and no goals in their last five away from home, Brighton will need a substantial improvement on the road if they are to survive this season.

Brighton & Hove Albion Team News

Ezequiel Schelotto (head) and Steve Sidwell (back) are unlikely to feature.
