Werder Bremen vs Freiburg Match Prediction

By William Hall

The Bundesliga sees two of the league's slow starters go head to head on Saturday as Werder Bremen welcome Freiburg to the Weserstadion. Both sides are yet to win a game this season with Weder Bremen losing three and drawing two and Freiburg having had a slightly better start drawing three and losing two. Freiburg come into this one of the back of a draw to Hannover, which is a huge confidence booster going into this next match. Werder Bremen also got a good point last time out away to Wolfsburg but will be hoping to go one better this weekend. Read on for a full match preview complete with all our best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

With both sides on such poor form, it is sometimes tough to call which way this is going to go. When these two played each other last season, the scores were 5-3 and 3-1, meaning we are bound to see goals this weekend. Also, you can take both teams to score from that and with both sides desperate to get some points on the board, both teams to score also looks a solid bet. The winner of this one will take themselves away from the bottom three which even at this stage is a morale booster throughout the squad.

Both teams come into the game off the back of decent results which will fill them with confidence, but I just can't see this one ending a draw. Both sides will want the win which will open up the defences massively. Both teams to score and goals look my favourite two bets this weekend.

Werder Bremen Preview

Werder Bremen had the worst possible start to the season, losing both of the opening two matches and not scoring a goal. Things have got slightly better since scoring in each of the previous three and picking up two points. It hasn't been the easiest of starts for the side having faced the likes of Bayern Munich, Schalke, Hertha Berlin and Hoffenheim but to only have two points on the board is a worry. Looking on the bright side, Werder were able to come from behind in the week to get points away to Wolfsburg and will take a lot of positives going into this next one. On paper, this looks like its the easiest game to date, so three points will be well on the radar.

Werder Bremen Team News

Werder Bremen have six out for the visit of Freiburg this weekend. Here is the full list; Niklas Moisander (thigh injury), Ludovic Sane (knee injury), Eric Oelschlagel (elbow injury), Justin Eilers (ACL), Max Kruse (collorbone injury) and Zlato Junuzovic (achillies tendon injury).

Freiburg Preview

Freiburg have been the definition of inconsistent up to now with their results going from a win, draw, win, draw, etc. They will be looking to put an abrupt end to these up and down run of results by getting all three points against a side who has also had a winless start to the campaign. Freiburg also had to come from behind in their last game to get the point out of Hannover, but for long periods of the match just didn't look as if they were going to come close. A better performance will be needed this weekend as sometimes beating the teams around you is harder than beating those near the top of the table. A win for both teams in this one can put a whole different view on the league table which is so important.

Freiburg Team News

Freiburg have a long list of absenties this weekend. Here is the list along with the injuries; Georg Niedermaier (back injury), Jonas Meffert (foot injury), Vincent Sierro (muscle injury), Yoric Ravet (muscle injury), Amir Abrashi (ankle injury), Manuel Gulde (back injury), Mac-Oliver Kempf (muscl injury and Poric Ravet (suspension).
