Watford vs West Bromwich Albion Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Watford picked up a second consecutive win at Vicarage Road after a 1-0 success over Everton on Saturday. For long periods of the game, Watford were unable to take advantage of Everton’s recent troubles on the road. However, the breakthrough came in the 79th minute when Troy Deeney scored past Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford. West Brom were booed off the pitch after a 2-1 loss against Huddersfield Town at the Hawthorns. A brilliant display from the away team led to quick second-half goals – through Rajiv van La Parra and Steven Mounie. Even though West Brom pulled one back through a free header from Craig Dawson, there was not to be a comeback for Alan Pardew’s men.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

West Brom have been good only in patches, and it has not been enough to prevent a torrent of poor results. Pardew’s team has picked up just one win on the road this season, while they encounter a Watford team high on confidence after back-to-back home wins. I would choose a win for Watford. Despite a struggle for results, West Brom have been creating chances. It is only at the back where West Brom have been let down, as some of their recent defending does not belong in the top two levels of English football. Even though Watford are mediocre in front of goal, I see tremendous value in choosing over 2.5 goals in this fixture.

Watford Preview

Watford did not let the confidence from the mammoth win over Chelsea slip away, as a second consecutive home win places the club nicely for moving into the top 10 places. Burnley may be in the seventh place, but Watford are just four points behind. Among the crowded contest for the seventh place, Watford are one of the few to possess momentum. This momentum is also paramount for Watford, who face away trips against Arsenal and Liverpool in March. Javi Garcia has done an excellent job since taking over from Marco Silva. Abdoulaye Doucoure’s seven goals still place him as the club’s top scorer.

Watford Team News

Jerome Sinclair (muscle), Nathaniel Chalobah (knee), Tommy Hoban (cruciate ligament), Tom Cleverley (hamstring), Craig Cathcart (knee), Molla Wague (hamstring), Christian Kabasele (hamstring), and Gerard Deulofeu (ankle) are unavailable for Javi Gracia.

West Bromwich Albion Preview

Several West Brom fans have turned against the team as a stream of poor results have now transformed into a river of defeats. Five consecutive defeats have led to many writing an obituary for the club’s eight-year stay in the Premier League. West Brom are seven points behind safety and need three wins just to get on level terms with safety positions; it is a massive expectation from a team that has only taken three wins all season long. Salomon Rondon is the top scorer at West Brom alongside Jay Rodriguez with four league goals.

West Bromwich Albion Team News

Daniel Sturridge (hamstring), Hal Robson-Kanu (hamstring), James Morrison (Achilles tendon), and Nacer Chadli (hip) are the players unavailable for Pardew.
