Watford Preview

Watford continued their impressive start to this Premier League campaign at the weekend as they hammered Newcastle United 3-0 at St. James’ Park. Watford were on a three-game losing run in the Premier League prior to the International break, but they now enter the fray on the back of two successive victories over West Ham and Newcastle United. The Hornets looked perfect at the both ends of the pitch during this run, having scored five goals and conceded nine in the process. Watford find themselves in 8th spot in the Premier League table with 21 points after 13 rounds, just three points of the top five. Keeping the ball out of their own net has been Watford’s main problem throughout the season, as they hold the worst defensive record in top ten with 21 goals conceded in 13 games. Their home form has also let them down as Watford have only won two of their seven competitive home fixtures. In addition, the Hornets have failed to score in three of their last five league games. The only positive thing is that Watford managed to beat Manchester United 3-1 in the most recent meeting with the Red Devils.

Watford Team News

Younes Kaboul, Isaac Success, Nathaniel Chalobah and Tommy Hoban are all doubts, while Craig Cathcart is out through a knee injury.

Manchester United Preview

Meanwhile, Manchester United have been alternating victories with defeats recently and come into this clash on the back of an unconvincing 1-0 home win over the newly-promoted Brighton & Hove Albion at the weekend. Mourinho’s men still lie second in the Premier League table, eight points behind the current leaders Manchester City and three points clear of the third-placed Chelsea. The bad news is that the Red Devils have struggled away from home recently, having lost three of their last four competitive games and have failed to score in two of these. However, they should feel confident ahead of this clash as they have won four of their last five visits to the Vicarage Road, scoring at least two goals in each of these. Manchester United’s performance throughout this Premier League campaign has been largely based on their solid defence as they hold the best defensive record in the division with just six goals conceded in 13 rounds. At the other end of the field, United managed 28 goals in this term, including 8 from their topscorer Romelu Lukaku. Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford have also been in fine shape throughout the season, as the pair bagged eight goals and six assists between them already.

Manchester United Team News

Eric Bailly Bertrand is a doubt, but Phil Jones is still missing through a thigh injury. The good news is that Michael Carrick is back in training.
