Watford vs Burnley Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Watford were able to pick up a second consecutive win in all competitions after beating Crystal Palace 2-1 at Selhurst Park. Despite falling to a Craig Cathcart own goal in the first half, Watford came up with a strong response in the second to pick up a second consecutive league win through Cathcart and Tom Cleverley. Burnley were able to claim four successive wins in all competitions after Fulham lost 2-1 at Turf Moor. Andre Schurrle’s exquisite goal gave Fulham a lead after just two minutes, but the home team slowly came back into the match and picked up a 2-1 win. The own goals from Joe Bryan and Dennis Odoi were able to hand Burnley with a comeback victory.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Burnley last picked up five consecutive victories back in March-April. The club are capable of going on such runs, but there will be a tremendous deal of pressure in this match owing to the current run. Burnley have not done well in away matches this season, while Watford do perform well in terms of matches at Vicarage Road. Watford may have managed only one win in the last five home games but they have been through a difficult set of opponents. I would back a win for Watford.

The physical presence provided by the likes of Troy Deeney has been a game changer for Watford, who have been heavily reliant on the trickery provided by Roberto Pereyra and Gerard Deulofeu this season. Burnley are much better defensively compared to the last few weeks but we are still not perfect. Both teams are expected to score in this match.

Watford Preview

After picking up back-to-back wins in all competitions, Watford are in a decent frame of mind coming into this match. Chelsea are the only team to beat Watford in the last eight matches across all competitions. Manager Javi Gracia has overseen this tremendous improvement from the team is a good feat to put the club back in the frame for a European qualification position. Watford have been quite active in the transfer market but most of the signings have been to prune the squad or build for the long term future.

Watford Team News

Will Hughes is still recovering from the concussion suffered recently.

Burnley Preview

Burnley are in a sweet run of form and the team has picked up four consecutive wins in all competitions. It is an incredible achievement from the Clarets, who appeared to be certainties for relegation only a few weeks ago. It is an amazing turnaround from Burnley, who have largely faced teams in and around them in the table. However, the big challenge for the team will be to translate this decent form into a sequence where there are four away games in the next five matches for Burnley. The form of Chris Wood has been significant in Burnley’s improved form, but the defining factor has been an improved defence.

Burnley Team News

Johann Berg Gudmundsson (thigh) and Aaron Lennon (knee) are unavailable for Burnley. Robert Brady is suspended for the match.
