Watford vs AFC Bournemouth Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Watford failed to find the back of the net for the first time in the 2018-19 campaign as they slipped to a 2-0 defeat against Arsenal. Despite having more shots at goal than the hosts, Watford ended up conceding late through an own goal from Craig Cathcart before Mesut Ozil secured the three points with a classy finish. Bournemouth made it back-to-back wins at the Vitality Stadium after beating Crystal Palace 2-1 on Monday night. The Cherries made it 1-0 after just five minutes through David Brooks’ excellent finish. Patrick van Aanholt equalised the scores just after half-time but a late penalty from Junior Stanislas ensured a win for the hosts.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

An incredible five out of the last six meetings between Bournemouth and Watford have ended up producing stalemates. The Hornets are in a good position to pick up their first home win over Bournemouth since 2013, as Garcia’s have been quite impressive at home – three wins in four. Bournemouth are starting to develop away blues with the team losing back-to-back trips. I would opt for a Watford win.

Bournemouth have not come up with goals in the last two away league games, but they make the trip to the Vicarage Road knowing that the Hornets are not without a clean sheet in three. The Cherries carry enough attacking potential with a fully fit squad and they have scored four goals in the last two visits to Vicarage Road. I would pick over 2.5 goals in total.

Watford Preview

After a stellar start to the 2018-19 campaign, Watford are starting to encounter their first major blip. The Hornets went through a similar blip last season; the team had lost only once up until the second international break last season but ended up managing just three wins in the subsequent 12 games. Even though Watford have now been unable to win just three league matches, Garcia will be trying to pick up his players in forthcoming weeks. The Hornets have come through opposition like Manchester United, Arsenal, and Spurs with their pride intact. Roberto Pereyra and Andre Gray are the top scorers with three goals each.

Watford Team News

Javi Garcia has a long injury list with Tom Cleverley (Achilles tendon), Younes Kaboul (foot), Adalberto Penaranda (hamstring), Daryl Janmaat (meniscus), Stefano Okaka (knock), Miguel Britos (thigh), and Miguel Britos (thigh) unavailable. Gerard Deulofeu (foot) is a major doubt for the game.

AFC Bournemouth Preview

Bournemouth have been able to pull together a string of excellent results to preserve their strong start to the campaign. The cherries have been extremely consistent so far this season and they are being rewarded with a strong return of 13 points for the same. The international break comes at the wrong time for Bournemouth with the club managing three wins in the last four. After having been heavily dependent on Callum Wilson and Joshua King in the previous campaign, Bournemouth have witnessed five different scorers – other than the duo – in the last four games.

AFC Bournemouth Team News

Eddie Howe does not have injuries or suspensions coming into the game.
