Villarreal vs Las Palmas Match Prediction

By Gary Gillles

Villarreal made further progress in the league table after a 2-1 win over Girona last weekend. Cedric Bakambu continued his impressive form with a brace inside the 20th minute, while the hosts were able to get one back Christian Stuani just before the break. However, Villarreal held on for a victory and went on to get a 2-2 draw with Slavia Praha in the Europa League. Las Palmas fell to a 5-2 defeat against Celta de Vigo in front of their own supporters. A hat-trick from Iago Aspas and further goals from Emre Mor and Pablo Hernandez made it a comfortable win for the club, who did concede two late goals through Vitolo and Loic Remy. Ruben Blanco received a straight red card in the 52nd minute, but Las Palmas were unable to capitalise. Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Villarreal are a strong outfit at home and the team only suffered four defeats at the La Ceramica last season. They come up against a Las Palmas outfit that has suffered four consecutive defeats. Interestingly, Las Palmas have been losing at half-time and full-time in three out of the eight league matches this season. Villarreal have been the opposite with the team winning at half-time and full-time in three out of the last six matches. I would go with Villarreal to repeat the feat once again. Cedric Bakambu has been in outstanding form after scoring an incredible five goals in the last two matches. He is the club’s top scorer with seven goals and was also able to score in the last home game against Las Palmas. I would go with Cedric Bakambu to score anytime in the game.

Villarreal to win at half-time and full-time – 13/10

Cedric Bakambu to score anytime – 11/10

Villarreal saw over 1.5 goals in 8 out of their last 10 games played

Villarreal saw over 1.5 goals in 7 out of their last 10 games played against Las Palmas

Villarreal Preview

Villarreal are riding on the presence of Cedric Bakambu in the last couple of weeks, as the striker has been able to help the club back into the top 10 with his goals. Last season, he came up with flashes of brilliance that saw him finish as the top scorer. This time around, he has been able to step up and is now only four shy of Lionel Messi in the La Liga top scorers list. Villarreal will be aiming for more consistency from the home matches, as the club’s away form is still patchy. However, they took advantage of games against relegation contenders like Deportivo Alaves and Girona.

Villarreal Team News

Andres Fernandez (cruciate ligament), Ruben Semedo (thigh), Adrian Marin (knee), and Bruno Soriano (leg) are the players unavailable for Villarreal.

Las Palmas Preview

Las Palmas have been going through a big struggle for form in the last few weeks and a run of four consecutive defeats threatens to remove the morale completely out of the team. The ability to defend has been a major problem for the club in the last two games, as they have conceded eight in these two games. At the other end, the return of Loic Remy immediately paid dividends with a goal from the former Chelsea striker against Celta de Vigo. In the absence of the summer signing, Las Palmas did not score in the previous three matches.

Las Palmas Team News

Alen Halilovic (ankle) is the only player on the sidelines for Las Palmas.
