Villarreal vs Getafe Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Villarreal suffered more setbacks after a 1-1 draw with Espanyol during the weekend. The visit to the RCDE Stadium appeared to be going in the right direction when Rodri Hernandez scored after 25 minutes. Villarreal were unable to score further and Esteban Granero equalised with five minutes left in the game. The Yellow Submarines went on to lose 1-0 in the first leg of the Europa League last-16 match against Lyon. Getafe are unbeaten in six after a 3-0 win over Celta de Vigo. Angel Rodriguez’ first half goal provided the breakthrough for the hosts, who built on this goal with second-half strikes from Jorge Molina and Rodriguez.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

The Getafe outfit have surprisingly had the better of Villarreal in recent meetings, as the Yellow Submarines have been able to claim just one win in the last five meetings. At the La Ceramica, however, things are rather different with three consecutive wins for Villarreal. Getafe have managed only one away win this season, but they have drawn the last two away matches. Still, I would back Villarreal to get back to winning ways. The recent games for Villarreal have witnessed decent amount of opportunities for the Yellow Submarines, but they have just been unable to finish the chances. Getafe have a stubborn defence which has conceded just three goals in the last six games. I would back under 2.5 goals in the match.

Villarreal Preview

The season is on the verge of collapsing for Villarreal, as the club has faced significant setbacks in recent weeks. The objective of a top four finish came to a crashing halt a couple of weeks ago, while Sevilla have just been able to leapfrog the Yellow Submarines into the fifth place following the weekend results. Villarreal are also at the risk of losing out on the latter stages of the European competitions. Villarreal’s last victory in any competition was against Real Sociedad towards the end of January. Carlos Bacca is on eight goals – one behind former striker Cedric Bakambu.

Villarreal Team News

Manager Javier Calleja is still without several key players, as Nicola Sansone (calf), Ruben Semedo (thigh), Leonardo Suarez (cruciate ligament), Andres Fernandez (cruciate ligament), Ramiro Guerra (knee), and Bruno Soriano (leg) are unavailable due to injuries. Alvaro Gonzalez Soberon is suspended for the game.

Getafe Preview

The results keep getting better for Getafe and manager Pepe Bordalas. The club have now made a significant push to the top seven places, as a six-game unbeaten run puts them just two points behind Eibar coming into this weekend. Getafe have been able to build this incredible 2017-18 campaign due to a strong defence, which has let in just 21 goals – only Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have a better record. Angel Rodriguez is the top scorer at the club with 10 league goals.

Getafe Team News

Damian Suarez is the only player unavailable due to suspension, while Mathieu Flamini (muscle) and Markel Bergara (foot) miss out due to injuries.
