Villarreal vs Eibar Match Prediction

By Gary Gillles

Villarreal suffered a first defeat of the season as they lost 4-0 against Getafe on Sunday. It was a horrendous defensive performance from Villarreal, and the opposition were able to get goals through Angel (2), Jorge Molina, and Bergara. In the midweek action, Villarreal’s new manager Javier Calleja saw his team get a goalless draw with Maccabi Tel Aviv. Eibar endured a difficult home game as they lost 4-0 against Celta de Vigo. Goals from Gustavo Cabral, Pione Sisto, Pablo Hernandez, and Daniel Wass condemned Eibar to yet another heavy defeat in the league.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Surprisingly, Eibar were able to do the double over Villarreal last season. However, they may struggle to come up with a repeat of the same. After having gone through a managerial change, Villarreal are expected to produce a positive performance and home advantage also favours the team. Eibar have been extremely poor this season and the lack of goals may make it harder for them to think about a victory at the La Ceramica. I would go for a Villarreal win. The recent league match saw Villarreal concede four goals, but the club’s defence has been relatively good for most of this season. Villarreal have kept three clean sheets in the last four games in all competitions. Eibar have not scored in three of the last five league matches. I would go with Villarreal to keep a clean sheet.

Villarreal Preview

Villarreal have once again gone through a managerial change as Fran Escriba has been replaced by Calleja following a disastrous loss against Getafe. It may be a knee-jerk reaction from the club, as Villarreal are not in too bad a position. The club are 14th in the table after managing seven points, and the loss against Getafe is the first in four games. Despite having picked up only two wins so far this season, the club find themselves with a decent defensive record after conceding only nine goals. The problem for Villarreal has been up front as the team has netted just six in the first six matches. Carlos Bacca and Cedric Bakambu are the top scorers with two goals each.

Villarreal Team News

Andres Fernandez (cruciate ligament), Bruno Soriano (leg), and Adrian Marin (knee) are the players unavailable for Villarreal.

Eibar Preview

Eibar started the campaign well, but there is a danger of the season falling apart even at this early stage. Back-to-back heavy defeats have taken the confidence out of the team, and it may take a couple of good results in order to repair the same. In order to get wins, Eibar have to massively up their offensive quality. The club has scored just three league goals this season with only Deportivo Alaves having a worse record. The struggles in front of goal have been in place towards the end of last season. Sergi Enrich is one of the key players for the club and he has scored one of the three goals

Eibar Team News

Yoel Rodriguez (cruciate ligament), Pedro Leon (knee), Ivan Ramis (calf), Fran Rico (knee), Joan Jordan (foot), Ivan Alejo Peralta (knee) are the players unavailable for Eibar.
