Vancouver Whitecaps vs Columbus Crew Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Vancouver Whitecaps extended their solid run of form with a 3-0 win over Minnesota United. Yordy Reyna was able to provide the opening goal after just five minutes, while Erik Hurtado made it 2-0 in the 31st minute. A late headed goal from Brek Shea provided a convincing look to the score. Columbus Crew were able to manage a 1-1 draw with Sporting Kansas City at home in the latest MLS 2017 game. Lobato was able to pounce on an error from Columbus Crew to score the opening goal in the 19th minute. However, Ola Kamara came up with the equaliser just at the stroke of half-time. Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Irrespective of the location, Vancouver Whitecaps have won four out of the last five games against Columbus Crew. This season, they come up against a Columbus Crew outfit which has managed only three away wins. Most of the success for Gregg Berhalter’s team has been in the home games. Vancouver have been able to pick up four wins in the last five games, and the club’s confidence levels is extremely high. I see outstanding value in going with a win for Vancouver Whitecaps.

Four out of the last five league matches for Vancouver Whitecaps have produced more than 2.5 goals, while it is a similar story with three out of the last four meetings between Vancouver and Columbus Crew. The home team are an excellent scoring form, and I would go with this game to produce more than 2.5 goals.

Vancouver Whitecaps Preview

Vancouver Whitecaps come into the game with the top spot of the Western Conference table firmly in their sights. Manager Carl Robinson has overseen a splendid run of form to put the team on the verge of topping the table ahead of Portland Timbers and Seattle Sounders. A run of four wins in the last five games has been one of the factors, but Vancouver have crucially been able to take advantage of other teams dropping points. The Whitecaps are just three points behind Portland, who have played three games more. Fredy Montero may not have scored in the last three games, but he has 11 goals for the season.

Vancouver Whitecaps Team News

Matias Laba (cruciate ligament), David Edgar (knee), and Brett Levis (cruciate ligament) are the players unavailable for Vancouver Whitecaps.

Columbus Crew Preview

Columbus Crew are on a decent run of form to even consider the possibility of making a tilt for the top two places in the Eastern Conference. Yet, a five-game unbeaten run sees Columbus Crew only seven points behind second placed in New York City. Columbus Crew have suffered just two defeats since the home loss against Atlanta United at the start of July. Ola Kamara has been the leading scorer at the Crew this season with 15 league goals.

Columbus Crew Team News

Gaston Sauro (cruciate ligament) and Ben Swanson (ankle) are ruled out of the game, while Niko Hansen (thigh) and Waylon Francis (hamstring) are doubtful for the game.
