Valencia vs Real Madrid Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Valencia enter into the match on the back of the shock 2-1 loss against Las Palmas during the weekend. It took only five minutes for Santi Mina to break the deadlock from a header. Jonathan Viera, though, capitalised on a sleepy defence by scoring the equaliser in the 20th minute. Gabriel Paulista and Ruben Vezo were sent off in the second half after Jonathan Calleri’s penalty had put Las Palmas in front. Real Madrid returned to form with an emphatic 7-1 victory over Deportivo La Coruna. Even though Adrian put La Coruna in front, Nacho Fernandez and Gareth Bale (2) were able to put Zidane’s team in front. Cristiano Ronaldo came up with a brace just a few minutes after Luka Modric’s goal, while Nacho Fernandez added a late seventh goal to round up the impressive win. In the midweek Copa del Rey quarter-finals, however, Real Madrid suffered a shock 2-1 home defeat against Leganes.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

This could be another match in which Real Madrid drop points, as Valencia have had a decent record against the Los Blancos. Madrid have been able to get just two wins in the recent six games against this opponent, while Madrid are also without a victory at the Mestalla since 2013. Real Madrid have drawn the last three away matches and I would expect more of the same in this game.

Valencia have scored more than 1.5 goals in the last four home matches against Real Madrid. Marcelino’s outfit have scored fewer than 1.5 goals only twice in 2018. Madrid’s defensive form continues to let down the team badly, and I would choose Valencia to score over 1.5 goals.

Valencia Preview

Valencia have not allowed the recent inconsistent form to affect the club excessively, as Marcelino sees his team remain with the opportunity to finish second in the La Liga 2017-18 campaign. Valencia trail second placed Atletico Madrid by just three points, while they also have a substantial five-point buffer over Real Madrid. After having been the swashbuckling outfit in the first half of the campaign, Valencia have had several mediocre results of late. Simone Zaza is the leading scorer at the club with 10 goals.

Valencia Team News

Ruben Vezo and Gabriel Paulista are suspended for the game due to yellow card accumulation, while Gabriel Paulista misses anyway due to a cruciate ligament injury.

Real Madrid Preview

Real Madrid may have just managed an emphatic victory over Deportivo La Coruna, but the problems at the Santiago Bernabeu are completely not beyond the Los Blancos. The home defeat against Leganes in the Copa del Rey – even when fielding a relatively strong team – is to remind Zidane about the vast scale of issues that he has with this team. Real Madrid may have already shifted focus to the cup competitions, but finishing second is of paramount importance to keeping Zidane in the dugout. Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale are the leading scorers at the club with six goals each.

Real Madrid Team News

Jesus Vallejo (thigh) and Daniel Ceballos (ankle) are the players unavailable for Real Madrid.
