Valencia vs Las Palmas Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

After managing to comfortably thwart relegation fears in the 2016-17 season, Valencia will be hoping for a much better 2017-18 campaign. The club, however, have gone through yet another managerial change, after deciding against keeping interim manager Voro on a permanent basis. Marcelino becomes the fifth manager at the club since 2016. Las Palmas were able to make a big impression last season, as the team were able to comfortably survive in the division without any relegation fears. This season, however, Las Palmas have to contend with better awareness from the opponents. Las Palmas also went through a managerial change, as Manolo Márquez was appointed as the replacement for Quique Setién.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Las Palmas have won the last three games against Valencia. It is a surprise record, but one that could be reversed in the 2017-18 game. Valencia have been good in pre-season while they have the home advantage on their side. Las Palmas’ only away win last season was against Valencia, but the club are expected to struggle to replicate such a result. I would go with a Valencia win. Santi Mina was able to score in both games against Las Palmas in the 2016-17 campaign. He was able to open the scoring in both matches. After finishing as one of the top scorers in the Valencia team with six goals, Mina is expected to be one of the key players for the club this season. I would go with Mina to score anytime in the game.

Valencia Preview

The summer has been relatively positive for Valencia, as the club has been able to bring together key players who could improve the squad. Simone Zaza was an impressive performer after coming on from Juventus last January. He has been signed a permanent basis for € 16 million. Valencia, though, experienced mixed set of results in pre-season. Improving on the away form will be a priority for Valencia, as the club were largely let down by this element. Valencia managed eight wins at home last season, while they only managed five on the road – two of those victories coming in the last few weeks. Munir El Haddadi and Rodrigo were the top scorers for the club last season with seven goals each.

Valencia Team News

Nani (knee) is doubtful for the game, while Robert Ibanez has returned to training after a cruciate ligament injury.

Las Palmas Preview

The home form was a major factor behind Las Palmas being devoid of relegation trouble throughout last season. The club were able to achieve just one win on the road last season, while they suffered defeat in all six away games towards the end. However, they were able to achieve nine wins in 19 league matches at home. The team also scored a healthy 33 goals in the home games compared to just 20 on the road. Kevin Prince Boetang was a surprise signing for the club, as the former Portsmouth winger ended up being the top scorer at the club with 10 goals in 29 appearances.

Las Palmas Team News

Las Palmas be without Vicente Gomez (spinal cord) due to injury, while Alfredo Ortuno (ankle) is doubtful for the game.
