Valencia vs Atletico Madrid Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Valencia once again produced a strong performance against Real Madrid and secured a point at the Santiago Bernabeu following a 2-2 draw. The opening goal from Marco Asensio was cancelled out by goals from Carlos Soler and Geoffrey Kondogbia in either half. Valencia were unable to hold onto this advantage, as Marco Asensio scored from a free kick with seven minutes of normal time left. Atletico Madrid secured a first win of the season in a comfortable 5-1 win over Las Palmas. Goals from Angel Correa, Yannick Carrasco, Koke (2), and Thomas Partey secured a comfortable win for Atletico Madrid. Simeone will be disappointed to see his team unable to maintain a clean sheet, as Jonathan Calleri scored in the 58th minute. Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Atletico have had the upper hand over Valencia after managing to win the last four meetings in all competitions. They have also been able to win three out of the last four games at the Mestalla. Atletico come into the match on the back of a mediocre away form. Even though the club dispatched five past Las Palmas, Valencia are a much better outfit. Atletico are without an away defeat in 2017, but they have drawn six out of the last 12 away games. I would bet on a draw. Yannick Carrasco has two goals in his four games against Valencia. He scored in both matches against this opponent during the 2015-16 season. Carrasco scored his first of the season against Las Palmas while he was also involved in a few more goals scored by his teammates. I would bet on Yannick Carrasco to score anytime.

Valencia Preview

The start to the season has been brilliant for Valencia, even with the club only managing four points from the available six in the first two games of the season. Getting an away draw against Real Madrid was a major result for a club who finished in the bottom half of the table last season. Valencia have made substantial investment in the transfer market while also being able to bring in players like Geoffrey Kondogbia and Goncalo Guedes on loan. Simone Zaza has been the most expensive purchase of the summer after costing the club €16 million. He has scored since the permanent transfer to Valencia.

Valencia Team News

Ruben Vezo (toe) is unavailable due to injury, while Jeison Murillo is absent due to personal reasons.

Atletico Madrid Preview

Atletico Madrid will be delighted to achieve the first win of the season, and it was imperative that it came just before the international break so that the team did not ponder too much about the opening day draw with newly promoted Girona. Manager Simeone will be aiming for the bigger scalps in the coming weeks, as Atletico look to win the league title to keep players like Antoine Griezmann happy. The major disappointment for Atletico will be the inability to bring back Diego Costa even after several rounds of negotiations.

Atletico Madrid Team News

Manager Diego Simeone will be without Antoine Griezmann, who is suspended for the game.
