Udinese vs Torino Match Prediction

By William Hall

Udinese will look to use their home field advantage to full effect on Wednesday night as they seek to hand Torino its first loss of the season in Serie A on match day five. Udinese will come into the match off the back of a 2-1 defeat away to AC Milan, while Torino were forced to settle for a 2-2 draw at home to Sampdoria. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news and match stats all in our SBAT preview.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Both matches ended in a 2-2 draw last season, and four out of the last five matches have seen both teams score at least one goal. Udinese has control of the overall tie at the moment, but Torino could start to claw that back with a win. As well as Torino have done in stretches this season, they aren't going to be able to sustain it for much longer. This side are bound to make a slip up, and this looks like it could be the time it happens. It's a short week, and they are away from home as well, where Udinese have their three points so far. Udinese should take at least a point from this one.

Udinese Preview

Udinese have three points from four matches so far, and they are going to be very glad just to have those. They did not get off to a good start, and they threw away one point- and then all three- against SPAL is a crazy match in which they will just be wishing they could go back and do over. That was back before the international break, but they didn't let it bother them as they returned to defeat Genoa 1-0. They used that momentum to take the fight to AC Milan on Sunday. They ultimately fell short 2-1, but it was the sort of effort that will likely help them stave off relegation in the end. Udinese might not be great, but there are other sides currently in the league that are much worse, and those teams- especially two of the newly promoted ones- are going to have a tough go of it. All of the goals came in the first half in Milan as Niko Kalinic scored in the 22nd minute to get them started. Udinese hit back just six minutes later when Kevin Lasagna found the back of the net. However, that score was short-lived as Kalinic got his brace after 31 minutes to take his side into the break in the lead, and they wouldn't relinquish it. The departed Cyril Thereau is still the team's leading goal scorer on the season with two, while no one else has went over one goal or one assist.

Udinese Team News

Right back Silvan Widmer continues to miss out due to injury, while center forward Stipe Perica joins him in the stands for at least a few more days.

Torino Preview

Torino are one of the unbeaten sides in Serie through four matches, but they have just eight points are off the pace behind those that are perfect and those that have drawn just once. They are almost behind Milan, who have one loss, as a result of drawing two of their matches. Torino looks to once again be the entertaining side in Serie A. It all looked like they might have had that figured out when they won 0-1 at Benevento is a scrappy way after the international break. That was their second clean sheet in a row, and they had conceded just once up to that point. But on Sunday, they conceded double that in the first half as they played out a very fun half of football in Turin. They would surrender a lead after less than a minute through Sampdoria's Daniel Zapata. Torino hit back in classic style in the 13th minute through Daniele Baseli, but that wasn't all they had in mind as Andrea Beloti finished a minute later to turn the match on its head quickly. Now would be the test of the seemingly improved back line. They would fail that test as they just couldn't hang on to the lead any longer when Fabio Quagliarella scored after 34 minutes to equalize. From there, no goals were scored. Torino are currently being paced for goals by Belotti and Adam Ljajic, with two goals each. Ljajic also leads the team with two assists in so far.

Torino Team News

Torino will be missing just one player for this match. Center midfielder Joel Obi remains out until the end of the month with a muscle injury that has been holding him out of action.
