Toulouse vs Amiens Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

Toulouse and Amiens will square off at the Stadium Municipal on Saturday evening, with both teams looking to return to winning ways in Ligue 1. Toulouse fought back from one-goal down to secure a 1-1 away draw at Guingamp prior to the International break thanks to a first-half equalizer from Somalia. On the flip side, Amiens suffered a 1-0 defeat on the road at Caen last time out in Ligue 1, with Christophe Pelissier’s men conceding the goal in the first minutes of the second half. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news, match stats and odds all in our SBAT preview.

Betting Predictions and Tips

Toulouse should be able to grab all three points here as they have been a solid side on home soil this season, while Amiens have lost six of their last seven away games across all competitions. I’m also backing Toulouse to keep a clean sheet here, as Amiens have only netted four goals throughout this campaign and have failed to score in four of their last five away games.

Toulouse Preview

Toulouse managed to win two of their opening four league fixtures, but their recent form has seen them lose two and draw two of their most recent games in Ligue 1. Toulouse have only collected eight points from eight games, which leaves them only in 14th in the standings, just two points clear of the bottom three. Keeping the ball out of their own net has been Toulouse’s main issue throughout this Ligue 1 campaign as they hold the second worst defensive record in the division with 15 goals conceded in eight rounds. They also looked poor going forward of late, having scored just one goal in their last four league outings. That’s because their last season’s topscorer Martin Braithwaite has left the club this summer and their current goalscorer is Jimmy Durmaz with three goals and one assist under his belt. The good news is that Toulouse were on a two-game winning streak in Ligue 1 prior to their 0-1 loss at the hands of Bordeaux in their most recent home league fixture. However, Toulouse have suffered a 1-2 loss against Amiens in their most recent home meeting with the Unicorns.

Toulouse Team News

Max Gradel, Steven Fortes and Jimmy Durmaz are all doubts ahead of this game.

Amiens Preview

The newcomers Amiens have found life difficult in Ligue 1, having lost five of their opening seven league fixtures. The minnows managed to secure back-to-back wins over Nice and Strasbourg a month ago, but they now enter the fray on the back of two consecutive defeats in Ligue 1, scoring none in the process. Actually, Amiens have struggled in front of goal throughout this early part of the season, as they have failed to score in five of their seven league fixtures this season. This leaves Amiens only in 16th spot in the league table tied on six points with Rennes and Dijon, just one point clear of the drop zone. Away from home, Amiens have enjoyed a terrible run of form over the past three months, losing six of their last seven games across all competitions. During this away form, Amiens have only scored two goals in seven competitive away games. Head-to-head, Amiens have picked up victories in their most recent two meetings with Toulouse in Ligue 2, scoring at least two goals in each of these. Gael Kakuta and Moussa Konate are the players to watch for Amiens, as the pair bagged four goals and one assist between them so far this season.

Amiens Team News

Charly Charrier is a doubt, but Guessouma Fofana is out through a leg injury.
