Tottenham Hotspur vs West Bromwich Albion Match Prediction

By Dean Carr

Tottenham Hotspur welcome West Bromwich Albion to Wembley Stadium on 25/11/17 as the home side look to take three points from their managerless opponents. Tottenham won 2-1 away to Borussia Dortmund in midweek, while West Brom lost 4-0 to Chelsea in their last outing. Read on for a full match preview complete with betting tips and predictions.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Mauricio Pochettino’s men picked up a morale-boosting victory in the Champions League last time out, while West Brom are in a huge slump after seeing manager Tony Pulis sacked in midweek. I’m expecting Tottenham to pick up a comfortable win here.

Tottenham Hotspur Preview

The strength of Tottenham’s team that faced Borussia Dortmund alone told just how keen Mauricio Pochettino was for his side to respond from their north London derby disappointment as quickly as possible, and so they did with a 2-1 away win in Germany. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang gave Dortmund the lead on the half hour mark, but Tottenham came out rejuvenated in the second half. It took just four minutes for Spurs to equalise as Harry Kane hit a low shot past Roman Burki from the edge of the box, before Heung-Min Son produced a composed finish to win the game for Tottenham and maintain their unbeaten run in the Champions League this season. Losing the north London derby last weekend was a huge blow for a team who didn’t play close to the levels they are capable of, both collectively and individually. Despite the defeat, Tottenham remain in the top four, a point ahead of both Liverpool and Arsenal and sit only three points adrift of Manchester United in second. Pochettino and his men are unbeaten in their last five Premier League games at Wembley, winning their last three in a row during that time, though they have still struggled to wholly convince at home in the Premier League. They have scored more than once at home on just occasion so far this season, with the 4-1 win over Liverpool being by far their most convincing win to date in the league.

Tottenham Hotspur Team News

Victor Wanyama (knee) could be set to return this weekend, but Toby Alderweireld (hamstring) is ruled out.

West Bromwich Albion Preview

Tony Pulis’ time as West Bromwich Albion manager finally came to an end last weekend as their 4-0 loss to Chelsea saw the board feel as if they were left with little choice but relieve the Welshman of his duties. Chelsea were in complete cruise control at The Hawthorns, finding themselves three goals to the good by half-time thanks to strikes from Alvaro Morata, Eden Hazard and Marcos Alonso. Hazard added his second and Chelsea’s fourth on the hour mark as West Brom once again drew a blank in front of goal and struggled to threaten their opponents. In truth, 2017 hasn’t been kind to West Brom so far, with the Baggies winning just seven of their 31 Premier League games in the calendar year, currently finding themselves on a winless run which now stands at ten matches. The Chelsea defeat also took their losing streak to four consecutive games, with this being the second time in 2017 that the team have lost four league games in a row. Gary Megson will be in charge of the team this weekend following the sacking of Pulis, though Alan Pardew has emerged as the favourite to take over on a permanent basis. Currently just a point above the relegation zone,
yet another defeat here could see them drop into the bottom three for the first time this season.

West Bromwich Albion Team News

Craig Dawson (knee) and James Morrison (achilles) will both be absent until December, while Nacer Chadli (thigh) is also expected to miss out.
