Tottenham Hotspur Preview

Harry Kane declared that he needed to perform in the Champions League to break into the world-class bracket and performances such as the one against Dortmund will help him significantly in doing so. Two goals in the opening 11 minutes saw the two teams locked at 1-1, as Heung-Min Son and Andriy Yarmolenko both struck for their sides. But it became all about Kane afterwards, as he put Tottenham 2-1 ahead with a calm finish when put through 1 v 1 against Roman Burki. Kane then scored Spurs’ third with another clinical finish in the second half, showing once again his comfort in taking chances from any range or angle inside the area. That result, along with the convincing 3-0 win at Everton last weekend, has left the overall complexion at the club feeling far more upbeat, having won convincingly against two strong teams in the space of five days. Now getting that elusive Premier League win at Wembley Stadium will be vital to settle any ongoing doubts from both the players and supporters alike as they look to establish a title challenge away from White Hart Lane. Having Kane back in form will be vital to that, having now seen the troublesome August pass them by.

Tottenham Hotspur Team News

Victor Wanyama (knee) and Erik Lamela (hip) are both ruled out for Tottenham here. Danny Rose (knee) isn’t yet ready to return, while Georges-Kevin N’Koudou (foot) is also a doubt.

Swansea City Preview

Much of the build-up to Swansea’s clash with Newcastle was dominated by the attention on their new signings, but it proved to be an extremely underwhelming welcome/return for Renato Sanches and Wilfried Bony. Sanches in particular was perceived as a real coup for the club, but disappointed on his debut, though much of the backlash to his performance appears to be somewhat of an overreaction. Neither side looked as if they would find the crucial breakthrough, but it eventually came in the 76th minute as Newcastle skipper Jamaal Lascelles powered in a header from a Matt Ritchie corner. Having won back-to-back games prior to the Newcastle defeat, there will have been a good mood amongst the squad which they will need to try and restore for this weekend. Swansea have actually performed better away from home so far this season than at the Liberty Stadium, with all four of their points gained so far this term coming on the road, while they are also unbeaten in their last four away stretching back to last season.

Swansea City Team News

Kyle Bartley (knee) and Leon Britton (back) are both set to miss out for the Swans here. Elsewhere, Nathan Dyer (achilles) is back in training.
