Tottenham Hotspur vs Southampton Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

Tottenham will look to continue their push for a top-four finish in the Premier League when they welcome Southampton at the Wembley Park on Tuesday at lunchtime. Tottenham managed a comfortable 0-3 away win at Burnley at the weekend thanks to a hat-trick from Harry Kane. Meanwhile, Southampton only drew 1-1 against Huddersfield despite the fact that Charlie Austin gave them the lead in the 24th minute. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news, match stats and odds all in our SBAT preview. Feel free to visit our Bet of the day page to check our best daily tips.

Betting Predictions and Tips

Tottenham Hotspur Preview

Tottenham have struggled for consistency over the past few months, but they looked a bit better since their Champions League group stage campaign ended. Spurs topped the Champions League group H with three points more than the runners-up Real Madrid and they will take on Juventus on February 13 for the first leg of their round of 16 tie. Despite their recent inconsistency, Spurs have been a strong side on home soil this season, having lost just twice in 14 competitive fixtures. Pochettino’s men are currently unbeaten in six home games across all competitions, including a 2-0 win over Brighton in their most recent league game. They looked solid at the back during their recent home form, having conceded just three goals in six outings. Furthermore, Tottenham have won four of their last five home meetings with Southampton in the Premier League. In addition, Spurs have won the last two meetings with Southampton, scoring six goals in the process. Harry Kane hasn’t been at his best of late but he is still the team’s top scorer and he will be the man to watch here once again.

Tottenham Hotspur Team News

Toby Alderweireld is still out through a hamstring injury, but Victor Wanyama is back in training following a knee injury.

Southampton Preview

Although they find themselves in a safe position in the Premier League table at the moment, Southampton still are in a precarious situation. They are just a couple of points clear of the drop zone and after this trip to Spurs, they have another difficult visit to Manchester United. The worrying fact is that the Saints have only won once in eight league trips this season and are currently on a six-game winless streak. In addition, Southampton have only scored five goals away from home throughout this Premier League campaign. Furthermore, Southampton managed to pick just one victory in their last six away games to Tottenham. Scoring have definitely been Southampton’s biggest problem throughout this Premier League campaign, as they have netted under 20 goals in 18 rounds so far this season. Charlie Austin is the Saints’ top scorer once again, but Steven Davis has also looked good throughout this campaign, helping the team with three goals. Manolo Gabbiani has also struggled for consistency this season, having found the back of the net just on three occasions.

Southampton Team News

Cedric Soares is out until the early January due to a hamstring injury, while Ryan Bertrand is a doubt.
