Betting Tips and Predictions

Spurs have hit something of a stale patch in recent weeks, drawing three of their last five, while it seems that United are going from strength to strength, which makes the away side seemingly great value on Wednesday.

Tottenham Hotspur Preview

Tottenham Hotspur narrowly avoided a dramatic FA Cup shock in the fourth round last time out, coming from behind late on to draw 1-1 with Newport County. The Welsh side entered a shock lead seven minutes before half-time when forward Padraig Amond headed them in front from Robbie Willmott’s cross. With the time running down on the clock, it was no shock to see Harry Kane in the right place at the right time to tap in the equaliser in the 82nd minute, leaving Spurs to be forced to play a replay. Mauricio Pochettino will be well aware of just how important this fixture is, now finding themselves five points behind Liverpool in 4th in the Premier League table and the two sides meet at Anfield on Sunday afternoon. Also facing Arsenal the week after, this is a potentially season-defining run of games for Spurs, who will then face Juventus in two weeks time. Although they have been unable to match their form from White Hart Lane last season, Tottenham have performed well at Wembley Stadium in recent weeks, winning seven and drawing two of their last nine home league outings. Netting 12 goals in his last eight games, Kane has been in exceptional form in recent weeks and has previous against United, being the last Spurs player to score at White Hart Lane in their 2-1 win over United last term.

Tottenham Hotspur Team News

Toby Alderweireld (hamstring), Hugo Lloris, Christian Eriksen (both ill), Danny Rose (knee) and Erik Lamela (hip) are all in contention to feature here. Harry Winks (ankle) is missing, Toby Alderweireld (hamstring) and Serge Aurier (calf) aren’t ready to return.

Manchester United Preview

Unlike Tottenham, Manchester United had no issues in seeing off their League Two opponents away from home in the FA Cup at the weekend, after beating Yeovil Town 4-0 at Huish Park. Marcus Rashford capitalised on hesitant defending to poke United into a 41st minute lead, which Ander Herrera doubled in the second half. With the game drawing to a close, both Jesse Lingard and Romelu Lukaku scored to add gloss to the scoreline and hand the team a comfortable passage through to the fifth round. Jose Mourinho will have his eyes on success in the FA Cup this season, with the Premier League title appearing to be now well out of their reach. Victory at White Hart Lane would see United move 11 points clear of Tottenham in 5th, almost certainly then putting to bed any fears of slipping out of the Champions League places. Winning their last five games across all competitions without conceding, United appear to be getting stronger as the weeks go on and will certainly be helped further by the signing of Alexis Sanchez, who is set to make his league debut for his new club at Wembley.

Manchester United Team News

Eric Bailly, Daley Blind (both ankle) and Zlatan Ibrahimovic (hamstring) will not be involved for the away side on Wednesday.
