Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester City Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Tottenham were able to claim a vital 2-1 victory over Stoke City at the Bet365 stadium to remain as favourites for the fourth place. Christian Eriksen broke the deadlock in the second-half with a fine finish from the edge of the box, but Spurs were shell-shocked when Mame Diouf scored just five minutes later in the 57th minute. Harry Kane, though, restored Spurs’ advantage with a crucial goal in the 63rd minute. Manchester City lost for a third consecutive match after Liverpool ran out 2-1 winners in the Champions League. Second-half goals from Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino cancelled out a second-minute goal from Gabriel Jesus. During the weekend, City led 2-0 against Manchester United after goals from Vincent Kompany and Iker Gundogan. However, the game finished as a 3-2 loss after a second-half comeback from Paul Pogba (2) and Chris Smalling.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Manchester City have struggled in their recent away games against Tottenham. Games at the White Hart Lane have witnessed City losing back-to-back matches. Spurs have been on such a confident run of form that it is difficult to see the team fearing their opponents this weekend. In fact, City look to avoid a fourth consecutive loss in all competitions. The club last faced this scenario back in 2006 and it is highly unlikely that a repeat would happen to this star-studded outfit. I would back a draw.

Both teams are expected to play an open match, as City rarely go into a game with a defensive mindset. Just one of the recent five games between City and Spurs has been a low scoring encounter. There is a tremendous value to be had while backing over 2.5 goals in this game.

Tottenham Hotspur Preview

The splendid run of form has put Tottenham in firm control over the top four places, as the team have been able to establish a whopping 10-point advantage going into the final six matches. Finishing in the top four now is now in Spurs’ hands, but the club do have a difficult end to the campaign. Spurs face both Manchester clubs in the remaining six matches, while tricky games against West Brom and Leicester City are also in the offering.

Tottenham Hotspur Team News

Harry Winks (ankle) and Kyle Walker-Peters (hamstring) are the players unavailable for Mauricio Pochettino.

Manchester City Preview

Guardiola did not seem to get anything wrong just two weeks ago, as his Manchester City team started the April round of fixtures with the possibility of winning the title and reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League. City now need two victories in order to win the Premier League, but the embarrassing exit from the Champions League provides a lot of questions for the Spaniard. City’s lead over United was cut down to 13 points, but even that is sufficient for Manchester City to potentially wrap up the title this weekend.

Manchester City Team News

John Stones (thigh) is the only injury problem for Pep Guardiola, while Fernandinho is suspended for the next two matches.
