Tottenham Hotspur vs Liverpool Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Tottenham lost their 100% start to the campaign after a 2-1 defeat against Watford at Vicarage Road. Spurs were handed the lead in the 53rd minute through Abdoulaye Doucoure’s own goal. This seemed to wake up Watford, who went on to take the lead owing to goals from Troy Deeney and Craig Cathcart. Liverpool kept their 100% record intact following a 2-1 win over Leicester City. Goals from Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino provided Jurgen Klopp with a happy mood in the dressing room at half-time, but Rachid Ghezzal’s goal in the 63rd minute threatened a comeback. Liverpool were able to hold on for the victory.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

The recent matches between Liverpool and Tottenham have been extremely tight games. Spurs might come without key players like Hugo Lloris and Dele Alli for this game. The situation is made more complex by Harry Kane’s struggle for form. Meanwhile, Liverpool are aiming for their first away win over Spurs in more than four years. The Reds come well equipped for this task as they are on a high of winning four consecutive games. Despite Spurs not far behind in the table, there is little to separate the two teams. I would choose a win for Liverpool.

Mohamed Salah has a sensational record against Tottenham after scoring five goals past Spurs in just seven games across all competitions. Even though the Egyptian is yet to hit the astronomical heights of last season, the ability to play on the counter will provide him with opportunities. I would back Salah to score anytime.

Tottenham Hotspur Preview

Spurs are at a crucial stage where the team cannot afford to let the campaign resume from the defeat against Watford. A second consecutive defeat does not bode well for Tottenham, who enter into the Champions League group stages with a difficult trip to the San Siro. There are signs of tiredness within the England contingent at Spurs, and Mauricio Pochettino has faced criticism for providing only a small break for his players just after the World Cup. Even though Spurs picked up three consecutive wins prior to the loss against Watford, they have shown signs of vulnerability in a number of positions.

Tottenham Hotspur Team News

Hugo Lloris (thigh), Vincent Janssen (foot), Juan Foyth (thigh), and Kazaiah Sterling (knock) are missing from action for Spurs, while Dele Alli is rated as a doubt with a muscle injury.

Liverpool Preview

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are already emerging as strong favourites for the league title and the fourth consecutive win of the campaign hinted the same. Goalkeeper Allisson has provided a new dimension to Liverpool’s play. Despite the second-most expensive goalkeeper committing a grave mistake against Leicester City, it is unlikely Klopp may request a change of style from his new big acquisition. Liverpool have profited from Allisson’s ability to play out from the back and the focus will now be to get Mohamed Salah on the scoresheet more often than not. Sadio Mane has emerged as the regular scorer for Liverpool this season.

Liverpool Team News

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (cruciate ligament), Dejan Lovren (hip), Rhian Brewster (ankle), and Adam Lallana (groin) are unavailable for the Reds.
