Tottenham Hotspur Preview

Unlike many Premier League sides, Tottenham played a strong side in the third round of the FA Cup last time out and were rewarded for it after securing a comfortable 3-0 win over AFC Wimbledon. Spurs were made to wait for the opening goal, taking the lead in the 63rd minute through Harry Kane, who scored his second goal just two minutes later. Jan Vertonghen then scored a superb third at Wembley, as they set up a fourth round tie with another lower-league side, this time in the shape of Newport County. Now returning to Premier League action, Spurs will be hoping to pick up where they left off after taking 10 points from a possible 12 before the cup break. Given that Liverpool are playing Manchester City the following day, they will see this as a game they must win, particularly with the run of games that are to come for Mauricio Pochettino’s side. Spurs face Southampton next weekend, before a trio of fixtures against Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal - a run which could determine the rest of their campaign. Unbeaten in 10 at home in the Premier League, Spurs will now be hoping to make it seven wins in 11 at Wembley this weekend.

Tottenham Hotspur Team News

Toby Alderweireld (hamstring) and Danny Rose (knee) look set to miss out this weekend.

Everton Preview

Everton’s inferiority complex at Anfield seems to show no signs of wearing off anytime soon after they fell to a 2-1 loss to Liverpool in the FA Cup last time out. Jurgen Klopp’s men took the lead from the penalty spot ten minutes before half-time, as James Milner showed composure from 12 yards. Gylfi Sigurdsson’s excellent finish on the break brought Everton level, but debutant Virgil van Dijk headed home the winner five minutes from time to extend the Toffees long wait for a trophy. Now out of the cup, there is nothing left for Sam Allardyce’s men to play for this season other than ensuring they remain in the Premier League, having now moved seven points clear of the drop zone under Allardyce. Despite their improvement under the former England boss, Everton are without a win in five games in all competitions, losing three in a row as they enter this game. Also scoring just twice during that time, they will be hoping new signing Cenk Tosun can provide some cutting edge in attack.

Everton Team News

Defenders Michael Keane (foot), Ramiro Funes Mori (knee) and Leighton Baines (calf) are all set to miss out here. Idrissa Gueye (hamstring) will be assessed.
