Betting Tips and Predictions

Confidence could not be higher for Tottenham Hotspur after taking apart the reigning Champions League holders on Wednesday night. I’m expecting a comfortable home win with Palace being unable to cope with this Tottenham attack.

Tottenham Hotspur Preview

Mauricio Pochettino has enjoyed some fine days as Tottenham manager since taking over in 2014 but undoubtedly had his best yet on Wednesday night after guiding his team to a 3-1 win over Real Madrid at Wembley Stadium to book their place in the last 16 of the Champions League. Dele Alli scored either side of half-time to put Spurs 2-0 up, before a swift counter-attack saw Christian Eriksen make it 3-0 after 65 minutes. Cristiano Ronaldo pulled one back for Madrid but it was nothing more than a consolation as Spurs enjoyed one of their most famous nights in recent history. It was the perfect response to last weekend’s disappointing 1-0 defeat at Manchester United, which left them sat eight points behind current league leaders Manchester City after ten games. They will now be attempting to return to form in the Premier League after seeing their seven-match unbeaten streak come to an end at Old Trafford last time out. Games such as these are ones Spurs simply have to win if they are to be considered Premier League title contenders and come into this game off the back of back-to-back league wins at Wembley.

Tottenham Hotspur Team News

Toby Alderweireld (hamstring) is set to miss out for Spurs, while Victor Wanyama (knee) and Erik Lamela (hip) are unlikely to be risked.

Crystal Palace Preview

Crystal Palace showed excellent fighting character and spirit to come from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with West Ham United last weekend. Two well-worked goals saw the Hammers go in ahead at half-time, as Javier Hernandez finished well from Aaron Cresswell’s low cross before Andre Ayew smashed the ball past Julian Speroni from the edge of the box. Whatever Roy Hodgson said at half-time clearly had an effect, as Palace pulled one back five minutes into the second half through Luka Milivojevic’s penalty and late drama followed. Joe Hart was West Ham’s best player on the afternoon and the Eagles could’ve taken all three points if it wasn’t for his heroics, but they were rewarded for their pressure when Wilfried Zaha scored a 97th minute equaliser. It was a timely lift for Palace, who were beaten 4-1 by Crystal Palace in the League Cup in midweek prior to facing West Ham, though they may feel disappointed not to have taken all three points. Hodgson’s side are still without a win or a goal away from home in the Premier League this season, a run which stretches to seven in a row with last season’s games included.

Crystal Palace Team News

Strikers Christian Benteke (knee) and Connor Wickham (cruciate ligament) are both ruled out. Mamadou Sakho (calf), Patrick van Aanholt (hamstring) and James McArthur (hamstring) are doubts.
