Tottenham Hotspur vs Cardiff City Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Tottenham made it back-to-back league wins after a 2-0 success over Huddersfield Town at the John Smith’s Stadium. A trademark header from Harry Kane opened the scoring in the 25th minute. Spurs were able to double the lead after just nine minutes when Kane converted from the spot. Pochettino’s men, though, slipped back into losing ways after a 4-2 loss against Barcelona in the Champions League. Cardiff City lost five consecutive games for the first time since 1998 as they lost 2-1 against Burnley at home. Johann Gudmundsson’s opener six minutes into the second-half provided Cardiff with the need to come up with the equaliser through Josh Murphy in the 60th minute. However, Sam Vokes was able to put Burnley back in front in the 70th minute with Gudmundsson turning the provider.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Cardiff travel to the Wembley stadium looking to avoid a sixth consecutive loss, but they may struggle to have any impact. Even though the Welsh team may have the advantage of a midweek Champions League game for the opponent, the impact is likely to be minuscule due to a woeful defence that will ultimately hand Spurs with numerous opportunities to win. An attractive proposition would be to back a Tottenham win and under 3.5 goals considering that Spurs have scored over 2.5 goals only once this season.

Harry Kane has been able to hit a sweet spot in terms of scoring goals with four goals in his last three appearances. This has helped him overcome talk about tiredness. Kane is a very strong pick to score 1st in the game, as three of his five league goals have broken the deadlock.

Tottenham win and under 3.5 goals in total – 6/5

Harry Kane to score 1st – 21/10

Tottenham Hotspur saw over 1.5 goals in 7 out of their last 10 games played

Tottenham Hotspur have conceeded only 0 goals in their last 7 games against Cardiff City

Tottenham Hotspur Preview

The glimmer of positivity provided by wins over Brighton and Huddersfield have been swiftly taken out of the window for Spurs, and their woeful run against the top teams makes it hard for Mauricio Pochettino to lend positivity. Since April began with a 3-1 win over Chelsea, Spurs have been able to get just one win over a ‘top team’ and it was the recent success of Manchester United. Spurs will take a few positives from the way in which the team scored against Barcelona, but Pochettino has to shake up the team quickly ahead of a doubleheader against West Ham and matches against Manchester City before November’s international break.

Tottenham Hotspur Team News

Pochettino has a huge injury list with Jan Vertonghen (hamstring) and Michel Vorm (knee) rated as slight doubts. Christian Eriksen (abdominal injury), Hugo Lloris (muscle strain), Vincent Janssen (foot), Dele Alli (hamstring), Serge Aurier (thigh), and Mousa Dembele (thigh) are unavailable.

Cardiff City Preview

Neil Warnock came up with surprising statements of preferring Championship to the Premier League just before the defeat against Burnley. It did not turn out to be a huge surprise that the club fell to a fifth consecutive defeat in all competitions. Cardiff have been spectacularly poor since the start of the campaign. The lack of any threat going forward coupled with a defence that has shipped 16 league goals have rendered Cardiff as one of the favourites for relegation.

Cardiff City Team News

Aron Gunnarsson (knee), Nathanial Mendez-Laing (cruciate ligament), and Lee Peltier (shoulder) are unavailable for Cardiff.
