Tottenham Hotspur vs Burnley Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Tottenham were able to get a comfortable 2-0 victory over Leicester City to remain ahead of Chelsea in the league table. Son Heung-Min scored on the stroke of half-time to provide a vital lead for Spurs and midfielder Dele Alli was able to double their advantage in the second half. Spurs went on to qualify for the last 16 of the Champions League in remarkable circumstances after a late 1-1 draw with Barcelona at the Camp Nou. Burnley were able to register a first victory in nine matches after beating Brighton 1-0 at home. James Tarkowski made the most of Burnley’s threat from a set-piece situation to score the only goal of the game in the 40th minute.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Spurs will be able to profit immensely from the qualification to the knockout stages of the Champions League. Despite being a tough group, the club has picked up some impressive results, which have come after a difficult start. Meanwhile, Burnley will continue to struggle with a low amount of confidence and their defence has taken a pounding this season. However, it is unlikely that match will witness over 3.5 goals due to potential tiredness within Spurs. An attractive choice would be to go with a Spurs win and under 3.5 goals.

Harry Kane has a strong scoring record against Burnley after managing five goals in seven appearances against the clarets, although this record has been severely helped by the hat-trick against the team back in May. Due to the lack of proper alternatives, Kane is expected to continue as the first choice forward. I would back Kane to score 1st.

Tottenham Hotspur Preview

Tottenham are on a high after managing an impressive point against Barcelona to qualify for the last 16 of the Champions League in unexpected circumstances. After a disappointing start to their European campaign, the manner of qualification will delight manager Mauricio Pochettino, who has had to manage players amidst a lengthy run of matches. Even now, Spurs have to manage the festive fixture period with the team facing a number of injuries. Harry Kane has been able to keep getting among the goals even while facing accusations of tiredness and the England international has nine goals for the campaign.

Tottenham Hotspur Team News

Juan Foyth (hamstring), Kieran Trippier (groin), Victor Wanyama (knee), Moussa Dembele (ankle), Vincent Janssen (foot), Davinson Sánchez (hamstring), and Serge Aurier (groin) are unavailable for Spurs.

Burnley Preview

Sean Dyche will be mightily relieved to see his Burnley team get the win over Brighton, but it is extremely difficult to expect the Clarets to keep picking up a trace with a lot of uncertainty surrounding the team still in place. The offensive line up at Burnley has struggled to convert the few chances that have come the way, while the defence was a strong point for the team last season. However, it has completely deserted Burnley in the 2018-19 campaign with 32 goals conceded already. The absence of Gudmundsson due to injury will further deplete the creativity within the squad.

Burnley Team News

Nick Pope (dislocated shoulder), Stephen Ward (knee), Steven Defour (knee), and Johann Berg Gudmundsson (hamstring) are unavailable for Burnley.
